The King of the Golden City: Special Edition for Boys

Amazing story that is a beautifully written allegory for children to understand preparation to receive Holy Communion!!! Love this special edition for boys as protagonist is a boy. So nice to have special things just for the boys. The girl version is lovely as well!! All of my children have loved this book and it has helped each of them prepare for receiving Our Lord in Holy Communion!!

This was just the same as the book for girls, but the pictures were different. Was happy with it, love the author’s collection. Read it a chapter a day for max impact.

This book is so beautiful in gently explaining our relationship with Jesus. It hits at so many different levels that it is a great read aloud for the whole family. It is especially important for the child beginning to make her first sacraments. I highly recommend the CD AND the study guide. I didn't think I needed the study guide and when I'd gotten it I couldn't believe all the symbolism I'd missed. THis is a beautiful classic that every parent and child should share.

Amazing and inspiring book. Our 9 year old son loves this. A great tool to strengthen his faith and love of Christ the King.

Although this is an allegory for children, I think any adult who is serious about their faith would benefit from this book. I take it to Adoration with me and read one chapter each week. This book tells of the unfailing love that Jesus has for each of us, and the lengths to which He has gone to help us in getting to Heaven to be with Him forever. It explains many truths of the faith in ways which children and adults can understand. I highly recommend getting the study guide to accompany the book, to assist you in getting the most out of this beautiful love story/fairy tale/theology book.

I wish I had been introduced to this book as a child, but so thankful to have found it to instruct my own children. Truly a delight to read.

I read this aloud to my family every time we have a child preparing for First Communion. We're on our fourth reading now and everyone still comes out to listen every night, even the 16-year-old! This is a precious, unmatched fictional "review" of the basics of the Faith-filed life, so essential that second graders and 40-somethings alike find it useful! It covers difficult topics (for instance, sin and the near occasion of sin) in a gentle but honest way. I give a copy to each of our God-children as they reach the appropriate age, and will continue reading it even when all of our own are fledged! This "old" copy is the one to buy - its illustrations are beautiful reminders of a time when innocence was valued and preserved.

This is a wonderful Recording of King of the Golden City. If you are unfamiliar with the book, I highly recommend it. If you already enjoy the book, you will treasure. This unabridged dramatic reading. Only criticism is that the case was damaged upon arrival.
