Review: Wire Tool Exec Summary: Strip wires and twist like a pro. Recommended!
I have long had a problem with working with wires. I'm aware that I don't have a lot of tools that (say) an electrician may have to strip wires or coil the wires together, but I'm almost certainly going to cut through the wire once or twice trying to strip it and I'm going to be looking for a place to hide nestled cables because, aesthetically, my twisting cables together always looks awful. If I had to do it more often than every once in a while, I'd probably get much better at it, but the frequent is unlikely to go up.This tool is a solid solution. It stripped a half dozen cables in just a moment or two, twisted and bound them together about as fast. The result look solid, professional (workman-like!) and worked well. This is now a permanent add to my tool kits, the travelling one as well as the one that stays in the garage. Recommended!

Over priced junk
The only thing that works well in this kit it the wire nut twister, save your money and find something different.

Worth it
This makes stripping wires a breeze. Just stick the wire in the end and pull you trigger. It will strip in clean off and push it out the side. It also has a nut twister attachment as well. You can put your bare wires or a wire nut in it, pull the trigger and it connects them.

Great quality | Works well | Some problems
The media could not be loaded. The three wire strippers are marked with metric measurements:SQ refers to the cross sectional area of the wire (mm²), so...2.5 SQ, or 2.5 square millimeters - which is close to 13 AWG4.0 SQ, or 4.0 square millimeters - which is close to 11 AWG6.0 SQ, or 6.0 square millimeters - which is close to 9 AWGIn any case, choose the stripper in which the wire, including the insulation, fits the snuggest. In the video, I'm using 12 gauge wire pulled out of a UV protected sheath. With the insulation, it fits most tightly into the 2.5SQ stripper, and the carbide knife cuts into the insulation. The larger sized stripper (4.0SQ) pulls the wire in, but doesn't cut into the insulation at all.It may be that the wire I'm using is old and stiff, but I had to use a pair of pliers to keep the wire from turning. Maybe new wire insulation is softer and can be hand-fed into the stripper. The instructions are extremely difficult to use:1. Too small - The pictures and text would be much better on a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet.2. Poor choice of text color - light blue/green against white background = hard to read.3. Distracting background photos - the instructions are printed outside of the tiny step-photos and are hard to read against the background photo.4. Too much information in too small space. See #1.However, the steps are complete and, once understood, are logical and easy to follow. One side of the little card shows the steps to strip a wire, while the other side shows how to use the wire twister tool and how to install a wire connector. One point to clarify is how to determine how much insulation to strip. The depth that a wire can be pushed into the stripper is controlled by the movable connecting rod. This rod can be pulled out or pushed in by pulling the cross-hatched collet down. The further the connecting rod is pulled out, the further the wire can be pushed into the stripper. The result is a longer section of stripped wire. It may be easiest to just keep the connecting rod all the way out, strip the wire, and then cut the wires to the desired length.I like that the tools are in cut-outs in a padded case. The quality, however, is poor. The case feels flimsy. The little box the spare carbide blade and screw comes in is awful. Once the tape is cut to open it, it will not re-close.It's nice that they include correctly color-coded packets of wire nuts, but why include the blue and small yellow connectors? The smallest wire that can be stripped with the included tools is 12ga. Only one 12AWG wire might fit in either of those connectors. For a professional electrician, these tools could be very useful, and the cost would be nearly negligible. But for the home handyman, these tools might be an extravagance, and *maybe* not worth the price.
