I'm totally hooked!!!
This was such a crazy addictive book. First time reading a book by Tricia Wolfe and in'm already hooked by her writing style. I love romantic suspense stories and this one checked all my boxes. It flawlessly combines true crime, dark academia, and occult elements and the slow burn romance matches the tension and dynamic between the protagonists perfectly. The chemistry between Halen and Kallum is electric, and the plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns that left me breathless. This is not just a dark romance; it's a thought-provoking exploration of the human psyche and the boundaries of love and obsession. It challenges conventional notions of romance and delves deep into the complexities of desire and darkness. The perfect blend of passion and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and the cliffhanger ending left me craving more. If you're a fan of dark serial killer romances, this book is an absolute must-read.

So thrilling
Okay so this book confused me, made me rethink my head and also feel sad for the characters.Trishas writing is always amazing, she captures the essence, the way these characters think and feel, I felt it all.I really didnโt want it to end, the twists in this book are crazy, it makes you second guess everything youโve read previously. Two people, intertwined forever.

If you're a criminal minds babe, this is for you.
โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ/5 ๐ถ๐ถ.5/5If you're a criminal minds babe, this is for you. This story follows Halen (FMC), a crime scene behaviour analyst and Kallum (FMC) a philosophy professor who meet at the scene of a crime and things quickly go left. This book (and the subsequent books) are very heavy on philosophy and whilst Trisha notes that you don't need to know anything about philosophy to read these books, it is very easy to get caught up because they quite literally do not stop talking as Kallum is brought as an expert philosopher to work on a case Halen is working on... after she gets him institutionalised.By 70% into this book, I didn't understand how this was meant to be a trilogy (lmao stay tuned for the other reviews), there didn't feel like there was enough substance for 2 more entire books. For me, there was no chemistry between these characters, just obsession, one intense and one reluctant. The story is quite convoluted imo but given the mental states of the MCs it wouldn't make sense if it wasnโt, you end up feeling kind of as f-'ed up and confused as Halen feels as she continues to run away from her reality in the name of pain and grief.I enjoyed the premise of this book but not sure I'm a fan of the executionโฆ weโll see what book 2 has to say (spoiler: I didn't like them much either).

Brilliant and captivating
Could not out it down as the intricate plans unfold. Will Halen ever believe Kallum or will he be the Harbinger Killer she believes him to be? Only one way to see how their tale reveals itself so on to book 2.Leaves you on a cliffhanger and pulls you in from the start with the emotional pull of the darkness in Kallum against the light in Halen. But as we fins out things are not always as they seem. So keep reading to see what will happen when Halen has to work with Kallum in the next installment.

A dark read but very gripping.
This is my first read from this author and I have to say very impressed. Crime, romance and serial killers makes it the perfect trifecta for me. If thatโs your thing then I would highly recommend this book.Really looking forward to the rest of their story being revealed.

Deliciously Twisted
This was a recommendation from booktok for me - a snippet of just one of the first sexually tense scenes. They failed to mention the ritual sacrifices and incredible depth into philosophy, but my GOD that made this all the more incredible for me,I like reading crime novels, I often find myself figuring them out as I go but this one had me doubting myself and distracting me with Kallumโs character just as he was distracting Halen and manipulating her. The author almost had me thinking I had been wrongโฆ until that last chapter revealed what Iโd suspected.Iโll say no more, but as a lover of dark fiction this is absolutely a must read - Iโll be reading that sequel ASAP!

That twist though ๐- no spoilers
Only reason this is not a five star is because of the philosophy terminology.....now I know it's a necessity to the story but I did feel it went a little heavy in places and took me out of the book and story, just cos I couldn't pronounce some of the words or understand them however, I still absolutely loved this book and the twist! Wow didn't see that bad boy coming whatsoever!God damn! Looking forward to the next one!

LOVED this audiobook!
"She is my flame. And I am all but pleading for my muse to burn me alive.โFirst, the audio for this book was perfect! Re-released and narrated by Sebastian York & Lucy Rivers - they both absolutely killed it and honestly were perfect for Kallum & Halen! I was so into this story that I could not stop listening and finished it so quickly! This is such a perfect blend of dark romance and also a psychological thriller! Some of the plot twists we see had me surprised and I loved it! The tension between Halen and Kallum made the spicy scenes so much better - I mean their chemistry was literally palpable! And the ending has me excited to dive into the next book of this series! What to expect:โจ dark romanceโจ serial killerโจ romantic suspenseโจ criminal investigatorโจ heโs obsessed & so is sheโจ ritualistic crimes

Beautifully dark
That feeling you get when you read a book and feel it was written just for you... that's what this story was for me. It spoke to me as an artist not just a reader. The way Trisha Wolfe wrote these characters is art, it's raw, dark, and poetic.

This story was a real THRILL!

It is a haunting and twisted psychological thriller that circles around a murder investigation, though the plot is driven mainly by the electric chemistry and dark romance that binds the two main characters, Kallum and Halen. This was the first I've read of Trisha Wolfe's work, and I was very impressed. The plot is captivating and unpredictable, but also intricate and unsettling. Her writing is striking, poetic, emotional. Most of the thrillers I've read do not have such poetic prose; this was a real treat." Kallum and Halen are an intoxicating duo and I couldn't get enough of them. The majority of this bookโs content is just their raw sexual tension on display. Their chemistry is palpable and thrilling, first as a sort of guarded banter and eventually becoming something much more vulnerable and intense. Kallum is one sick psycho, but sexy as hell. If you like a dark and disturbed yet intelligent mind, then you will love him. Things definitely take a turn around the 70% mark, both in terms of the romance and the plot.. things get super freaky and let me tell you I was completely invested in the chaos that spilled out from those pages. I won't be forgetting that any time soon...This book ends with a cliffhanger and many stones left unturned. Trisha Wolfe's got me hooked and I can't wait to continue this twisted story with the next book.

Ingenious, would recommend
Lovely bad things, and the books that follow this series by Trisha Wolfe, is a one of a kind. As a philosophy student it has a lot of interesting angles on which to read Nietzsche โ and a brilliant understanding of the philosopherโs teachings. Itโs intriguing the way the author has managed to mix philosophy with religion in the way she does. The book has paranormal features but otherwise works in an everyday world. The female lead is a profiler of sorts and is trying to catch a serial killer โ to which is going to need the help of another killer, she herself put away years ago. The female lead is much like Wolfeโs other females. Strong, generally good but with a haunted past. The male is charismatic, intelligent and perhaps a little obsessed. This book is very clearly a dark romance and should be recommended to all the dark romance/fantasy girlies out there โ I myself ate it up in a day โ however I would also recommend it as a read for anyone interested in or studying Nietzsche (Thereโs also a few points on Greek mythology and Socrates but not so much that it should be read for those points)
