I purchased these to put fish food in. The pouches were an ungodly sight on my mantel. They work great!They ARE thin (you can squeeze them and they collapse slightly) and yes, PLASTIC, so don't be a ding dong like others and 'boil them'. I simply put them in a sink full of sudsy water and added Pine-Sol. I soaked them for an hour, dried them on a towel over night and voila!I did not test them for being water tight. I'm hoping they'll keep the food fresh as they do have lid gaskets. GREAT VALUE.
