A Great and Surprising Read
This little 61 page novella offers more reward and pleasure than tomes ten to twenty times its size. Every page in this instantly engaging book is packed with wit, humor, drama, emotion, romance, passion, acute insight, cultural and literary esoterica, without a wasted word on a single page. It is the most satisfying read I have experienced in decades and I highly recommend it to men and women alike. I promise that you will be glad you read this book and you will almost certainly read it more than once.It is written as the retrospective reminisces of a beautiful, brilliant and well-traveled professional woman examining portions of her past that she never before shared with her now deceased lover and soulmate. She has a one-sided conversation with him in her mind wherein she reveals and reflects upon her past loves, amorous adventures and trysts, from her first kiss of young love to her middle-aged affairs, all related at a dizzying pace, with multilevel musings on the significance of each relationship, the decisions that she makes and how she makes them. This is no dreary reminisce about chances lost or wrong turns in life. The protagonist/narrator embraces her choices and celebrates her journey in search of the love and affection she craves, almost never expressing regret and always focusing upon and growing with the positive aspects of each turn in her journey. Her observations about herself and others are very funny, balancing the episodes that are poignant and emotionally fraught.I cannot recall when reading a book has given me such pleasure and provoked so much introspection. I hope the author, Alexandra C., finds another book within and shares it with us all.

Lovely novel about the melancholy of desire
I knew almost nothing about this book when I started reading it, but it reminded me of something. Something about it’s lyrical, mournful approach to love…the way in which love itself, and not just the love plot, seemed doomed from the start.“It’s like Beautiful Losers! Leonard Cohen’s novel! I love that book!”There are differences, of course. These are very different stories. But Beautiful Losers was in the air. And then, suddenly, Cohen appeared on the page, like a patron saint. Which was even better! Because it meant I was in good hands. It meant the writer knew exactly what she was doing. And so it is…this writer knows exactly what she is doing. And she has written a gorgeous book about the melancholy of desire.

Intriguing, funny and refreshing
What a beautiful initiatory novel that immerses us in the romantic adventures of Alexandra C! Learning through chance encounters during her travels. She welcomes them with the attraction and excitement of novelty, the heart open to love in simplicity, the critical spirit focused on each of them with kindness and irony. Ernesto, however, will remain the center of her love. He opens the door to Alexandra's heart and mysteries.Thank you for sharing the novel Alexandra C which touched my heart.David Théard

Alexandra C: women love and sensuality
I love this book for the inside perspective about women love, sexuality and desires. Alexandra C's exploration of women's sexuality goes beyond the surface, delving into the complexities and nuances that shape their desires and experiences. Her introspective discussions with Ernesto shed light on the inner workings of Alexandra's mind, unveiling her thoughts, struggles, and triumphs. By candidly sharing her own story, she captures the common threads that connect women in their journeys of self-discovery and empowerment.Alexandra C's command of the English language is exceptional. Her writing is fluid, precise, and captivating, captivating readers with her eloquence and ability to convey emotions effectively. Through her skilled use of language, she paints vivid pictures and creates a rich tapestry of words that resonates with her audience.Additionally, Alexandra C's talent for employing vibrant metaphors adds a layer of depth and creativity to her work. Her use of live metaphors breathes life into her descriptions, allowing readers to visualize and experience the emotions and situations she portrays. These metaphors serve as powerful tools, enhancing the impact of her writing and leaving a lasting impression on the reader.

Thought provoking novel
Alexandra’s novel is a fabulous exploration of lost love and longing. This is a very impressive first novel, and I enjoyed it immensely. The whole premise is totally engaging. If you’re a romantic, get this novel!! So well written & from the heart. AlexandraC has an elegant prose style, and the first person narrative is both powerful and engaging. Not surprising that Leonard Cohen is referenced in this thoughtful work.

An ode to the freedom to find and define romance and pleasure for modern women today
Alexandra C took me through a journey of her life through the encounters she has had with different men. She writes in punchy, short verse to emphasize the intensity of her experiences and you find yourself laughing out loud or gasping many times. If you happen to be bilingual in Spanish and English, translating some of her phrases from English to Spanish will entertain you even more. This ode does leave a question open: Has Alexandra spent all this time in adventures in modern love as a decoy to not look for real love? Maybe it’s the follow up to her entertaining first novel? We shall have to wait and see…

One of the best newer novels I’ve read in a while
Thoughtful, powerful and raw, the author allows us a glimpse into an imaginary world that still feels deeply personal and brings us into the secret world she lives in. A must read for anyone looking for something a little different but incredibly interesting and thought provoking.

Read in one go!
Read in one go!I fell hopelessly in love with this writer, who has an impeccable attention to detail and an all-natural ability to lay herself bare, without masks, so much so that you long to “touch” certain levels of intimacy, page after page. The intensity and richness of this book makes you fly along with the protagonist and her emotions to the deepest places of the soul, where we rarely stop to listen and feel ourselves. More than just a novella, this writing leaves powerful and authentic reflections. Thank you for reminding me that when we are happy, we should notice.

An hour of your time to read, a lifetime of wondering where life can lead
Perhaps this is a book about lives unlived. Or maybe lives that were lived, but never made it past the first flame. We will never know. But these are stories of lives that can be lived, of the endless possibility of life and interaction, and in a way, it gives hope. We are all many things, but the heart, and the way it makes us feel is perhaps the most important, even when written in reflection.Live all your lives

About love, loss and finding some truth
The first sentences immediately draw you into the story of Alexandra C. Wonderfully written she tells about the choices she makes and doesn't make, about her love and desire, being connected and the loss and the grief which are part ofthe choices in her life. Living her life, supported by her heroes Alexandra C. doesn't mind to touch some dark places. An amazing journey, an amazing read: Alexandra C. The lives we haven't lived is a heartfelt and confession. After reading her I would say: live the life you live or if you don't want to, change it. I m looking forward to more...
