Works great, high quality.
This product works great. If you've got to get up a steep roof pitch and don't feel like spending 3 months in the hospital, this is the way to go!

Not As Easy As It Looks, Has Various Issues, Can Be Improved With User Modifications
There are a handful of flaws, issues, and problems with this item, but overall it's a decent product. At the very least, the idea behind it makes sense, and if you're willing to add some modifications to this product, most of the issues can be worked around.------------------------------CONS:✘ Relatively heavy. Some reviewers actually speculated about using two of these! The fact is, one is already unwieldy. It's manageable, but I don't think the average person would want to deal with two of these at the same time. Additionally, adding a ladder to this makes the whole contraption extremely unwieldy. (I opted to use a different mechanism.)✘ The metal hook can slip! This is not really a problem on steep roofs. However, this IS a problem on shallow roofs! And it's not surprising. The metal surface is smooth. Smooth surfaces are prone to slipping. Shallow roofs tend to present less risk to the roofer, but this is still a fundamental flaw. However, this can ultimately be worked around.✘ The horizontal bar at the end of the hook (what actually grips the roof and holds the hook in place) was not well secured to the curved bar that it's attached to. I had to actually use a hammer to pivot that horizontal bar until it was perpendicular to the curved bar, and then apply epoxy to the connection so it would be locked in place.------------------------------MODIFICATIONS & WORKAROUNDS (AT YOUR OWN RISK):••• Making It Grip Better •••1.) Find an old tire. Take a grinder and a circular saw and cut out a 12" segment. If you have even better tools for this, then of course use them. With basic tools, it will take a while and it will produce some fumes while you're standing close by. The main challenge is the metal that runs through most tires.2.) After you've cut the segment out, take the segment and align it horizontally with the ending horizontal bar. It should be a fairly natural fit. There's a very convenient hole right in the middle of the bar. A bolt is going to run through the tire, and then through that hole. Make sure the tire is centered, and then mark the spot on the tire where the bolt will go. Then take the tire segment aside and drill a hole through that spot. Then put the tire segment back, run a bolt through it and the underlying hole in the metal bar, and then fasten it with a nut.••• Replacing The Ladder With Something Lighter And More Manageable •••1.) Buy three 2x2s.2.) Using a nut and bolt, attach the first 2x2 to the roof hook. There's a convenient hole for this in the base of the roof hook. You'll have to drill a hole in the 2x2 and make sure it's aligned with that hole.3.) Choose the wood wisely. Don't buy wood with visible knots. We actually had one post snap right where a knot was. Luckily, we were on the ground testing it out when this happened.4.) One 2x2 may provide all the length you need. If you need more length, we will attach and second 2x2, and if necessary even a third 2x2. You will need at least two additional bolts and nuts for each 2x2 extension. Using clamps, align the first and second 2x2. The second 2x2 should extend half way over the first 2x2, with the other half extending beyond it. With the two pieces of wood clamped firmly together, drill two holes through the two pieces of wood. One hole will be near the beginning of the second 2x2, and the other hole will be near its midpoint. Hammer through the bolts and then fasten with nuts. If you still want additional length, repeat the same general process with the third 2x2.5.) When you're done, label the three 2x2s while they're still in place. This will help you later on when you need to realign all the pieces and put it back together.Among other things, this modification will make it easier to maneuver and re-position the roof hook while you're up on the roof.

Ladder hook review
(There needs to be a way to attach photos with these reviews) I needed something that would give me a foothold on a steep-angled metal roof and the ladder hook is working great. I need to paint the exterior of the dormers and do NOT want to damage the metal roof by nailing any other kind of platform or other device. This is the best solution for me - it's easy to handle, it's just me working on this and I can wrestle the ladder up the roof and flip it into position fairly easily. Because it's such a steep pitch I roped it off to a solid tree on the other side the first time I used it but I think that it's sturdy enough to hold by itself. I'll continue to rope it off just for peace of mind. Easy to attach and sturdy materials. I'll have it for years which means I'll have no excuse when I need to paint the dormers again in 5-10 years... rats.

Great Tool.
I would highly recommend this tool. It is built very well and easy to attach to the ladder and use. It made it possible for me to access and work on areas of the roof that I had never been able to. It works just as described. The only difficulty is with a steep pitch and ladder weight, it can be difficult for one person to manage but once in place is easy to move around on.

Love it, the only problem i had was it ...
Love it,the only problem i had was it sliding form side to side,it didn't fit real tight so i just put a bungy cord around it before running it up the roof. but don't get me wrong,it is great for a high pitch roof and will not detach from your ladder

Well built ladder hook
Very sturdy ladder hook. As others have noted, it tends to slide a bit on the rungs but not if the wing nut is tightened all the way with pliers. This product worked just fine and I felt very safe using it on my slate roof.

Great Deal !
This cost more than some others, but I bought this one because it weighed the most when I read about it in the description. Turns out I was right. It is heavy and sturdy! I would not want to risk my life with a cheaper flimsy one!
