Rookie Blue: The Complete First Season [DVD] [2010]

As a crime drama/any form of cop show junkie, I found Rookie Blue by accident, but having watched one episode i was hooked. I watched the first 2 seasons in around 2 weeks! Which in itself made it a must to buy Season 1 on DVD.Rookie Blue may have its procedural cop drama, but it also delves into the rookies home lives, and shows them as they are rookies, who are just learning to be cops making mistakes, not going out on to the streets and knowing just what they have to do.And for just under £11, compared to that of around £40 in high street stores, this is a complete bargain!I'm just waiting for Season 2 to come out on DVD!

Just love this series, really wish they didn’t stop making them.

I thoroughly enjoyed season one. Particularly Andy's struggle with finding her feet in her chosen career and her strained relationship with her father.The series contains humour as well as the serious side of policing Toronto. It gives insight in how difficult it can be making decisions that not only impact on the characters' lives, but also the lives of the people they're dealing with.I particularly enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Andy and her Training Officer, Sam Swarek. But also the other rookies and how their own personal experiences affect how they undertake their roles as police officers.I'm looking forward to season two.

I purchased this DVD not expecting too much. Was I surprised. Forget other American cop shows this is dare I say an original cop show. The cast is first rate the stories entertaining. This is a TV show about the cops as much as the cases they are on. Season 2 is now on my shopping list.

I've seen this show compared with Gray's Anatomy way too often. It's more than that, managing to only take the "young attractive cast" aspect of Gray's. Most of its DNA comes from Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue, 3rd Watch and the British show "The Bill", which means that the police work is believable in a way that the "medicine" in Gray's never is. At the same time you get an attachment to the characters, and not just to the eponymous rookies, but to their Training Officers, shift sergeant and the supporting cast as well.

took a punr and watched it on demand and regret not watching it from the beginning on tv. i originaly thoughtit was another american cop show i was pleasently suprised that it wasnt and was canadian , although the showrevolves around the rookies , mcnally in particular i was bemused how one of the rookies got accepted if he s an asthma sufferer maybe it got that wrong my favourite character and this was hard was training officer shawexellent

The first time I started watching this I thought it looked like a really good decent crime show until you get more into it with Andy and her two men who are really nice and don't deserve to be messed around by her, she ended up getting on my nerves after a while. Luke is a descent person and she is just poorly unfair to him. The fact is this is just like the soap dramas one girl playing around with two men all because she can't make up her mind! I really hate the one girl two guys drama it's like Gossip Girl or The Vampire Diaries only worser.

I miss my Rookie Blue. So to have it on dvd is a real treat. Such a fantastic series. You will be hooked from start to finish. Buy the next season and the next. They are just so well written and follow each character along the way. So well done. And very addictive too

Auch ich verstehe nicht, wieso man diese Serie nicht im Hauptabendprogramm eines größeren Senders ausstrahlt oder zumindest eine deutsche DVD-Edition herausbringt: der Slogan Grey's Anatomy with Guns charakterisiert es wirklich gut, es geht um die Abenteuer einer Gruppe von fünf jungen Polizistinnen und Polizisten ab dem ersten Tag des Dienstantritts, mit guten Krimielementen, es gibt sowohl berührende kleinere als auch spannende größere Fälle, die Unerfahrenheit der Anfänger kann lustig sein aber auch nachdenklich stimmen, man sieht hierdurch manches neu, was in anderen Serien selbstverständlich wirkt (wie würde man sich fühlen, wenn man bei der ersten Streife seines Lebens ein Haus nach einem Mörder durchkämmen muß? wer durchsucht eine Person, die sich gerade einer Geschlechtsumwandlung unterzieht?) Auch privat geht es drunter und drüber, inklusive Affären mit Vorgesetzten. Inhaltlich abwechslungsreich und spannend, sympathische Schauspieler.Man muß für diese DVD natürlich Englisch können (es gibt keine deutsche Tonspur und keine deutschen Untertitel, nur noch Französisch), aber es gibt zuschaltbare englische Untertitel, damit geht es leichter. Manchmal wird es etwas schnell, dann kann man auf einer DVD ja die Stelle wiederholen lassen, aber im Großen und Ganzen ist es gut verständlich.

Personaggi molto veri umanamente. Storie non banali. Protagonista molto carina, attori simpatici e bravi. A chi piacciono le serie poliziesche americane una bella e frizzante novità.

Une nouvelle série policière, vue depuis le bas : les héros sont une équipe de 'bleus', tous juste sortis de l'école de police. Ils apportent avec eux leur fraîcheur,leur enthousiasme, leurs doutes ; ils font quelques erreurs, mais commettent aussi certains exploits. Le rythme est enlevé, l'ambiance générale est saine, l'humour est souvent présent, les affaires privées interfèrent parfois dans certaines enquêtes, les images sont très belles, les acteurs sont excellents et souvent craquants, officier Mc Nally en tête. Toronto devient un nouvel L.A.Un petit bémol toutefois : il y a profusion de coffrets vidéos avec des audios et sous titres parfois 'exotiques' pour nous Français. Attention avant achat ! (pour ma part, je me suis fourni chez Amazon.UK (français/anglais), en espérant que Amazon.fr me pardonnera...)

... trifft's ganz gut :)Schade, dass es die Serie bei uns praktisch nur im Nischenprogramm spielt, dabei ist sie durchwegs spannender und zugleich witziger als Vieles, was derzeit so im Hauptabendprogramm zu finden ist: Die Charaktere wachsen einem schnell ans Herz, gezeigt wird zwar auch quasi das "crime of the week", aber die Charakterentwicklung ist meines Erachtens sehr realistisch und so wird die Serie auch nicht fad. Insgesamt eine klare Empfehlung!

Je n'ai pas encore visionné ces DVDs mais je voulais signaler que cette édition d'origine anglaise (avec pictogramme rouge : 12 ans sur la jaquette recto) comporte :version audio: anglais ET FRANCAISsous-titres: anglais ET FRANCAIS;même si ces indications ne figurent pas sur la jaquette au recto qui ne fait état que de langue et de sous-titres en anglais pour mal-entendants.
