ITEM: Hourglass Timer (30min, White Sand)PROS:- The hourglass is at least approximately accurate to 30 minutes (I kept getting distracted when timing it, but caught it at 32 min with it being done).- Overall it’s an attractive design.NEUTRALS:- The metal on the posts is a really bright gold/brass that I really didn’t like the look of, so I ended up painting them a tan-white (which looks great).CONS:- The main reason for my low rating is that the hourglass is set into cushions at the top and bottom and it’s fairly easy for it to become askew with accidental nudging (such as grabbing it to flip). When it arrived it was off one of the pads significantly. One of the pads seems to be permanently squished down on mine.- The wood color is noticeably lighter than the images show - more of a medium brown.WOULD I PURCHASE?: Despite the flaws, yes. It looks good as a functional decoration among other items and isn’t outrageously priced compared to high quality ones at $19.80.CONCLUSION: This is a functional and overall attractive hourglass. I did some home crafting (read ‘I painted it’ on the bright metal to make it more muted, the wood is lighter than pictured, and the pads that hold the hourglass aren’t great - mine was received slipped off the pad and the pad seems damaged, but it still works. My family saw this and wanted to know if I was the wicked witch (think Wizard of Oz). I cackled!I think this is absolutely wonderful to have. It looks great on my bookshelf but I’ve also enjoyed it on my desk. In other words, this hour glass is just a joy to own!
