I had a Plusino version of this telescoping rod for a while, but it snapped at the tip, and I gave up on it. Along the way to replacing it I tried another model of telescoping rod that was way too stiff (even though it was advertised as having good flex).This Troutboy model seems like the Goldilocks sweet spot so far. I've used it for many trips, and it has replaced my smaller non-telescoping trout rod as my go-to. It is long enough and stiff enough for some long casting, but it is fast enough and light enough to feel smaller fish bites and my lures spinning in low streams. When folded, it fits in my daypack for hiking trips to fishing holes. I've put it through some abuse and lots of opening and closing, and it has held up great so far. And this is a small point, but I also like that I can use the open holes in the metal ring that secures the reel to snag my hook and keep it out of the way when I'm moving around or throwing it in my backpack.If and when this one breaks or I throw it overboard I'll get another one instead of searching around for something that probably won't work quite as well for my needs. Highly recommend.

I originally ordered this rod for high lake trout just to have something light and compacting to strap to my back pack. Well the seasons changed and my friends started taking me salmon fishing and this was still the only rod I had so I figured what the heck! I landed many coho, pinks, and even some chum with the 6’10” rod, and Just ordered the 8’10” rod to have with me as steelhead start coming in. All my friends use $100-$200 lamiglass rods which must be great, but I’ve seen 2 poles snap this fall from fish that I pulled in at ease. I’m NOT a very experienced fisherman. This rod definitely is a more medium sensitive rod, not great for squid or small pond perch or really even high lake trout, but it’s still a great rod. Easy to feel bottom, easy to tell the difference between weeds and tiny bites, overall I love this thing. If you pair it with a cheap inflatable tube you have the ultimate lake trout destroyer for warmer months.

I bought this rig for my nephew. It has good solid quality for a collapsible rig and the reel feels strong and smooth. I gave it to him when he came by with his mom (my baby sister) for a visit. He was pretty stoked to get it. We will see if it holds up to some of my pro gear but it looks way better than most Walmart stuff.

I have not fished with this yet but it is well made and actually a very pretty rod. Collapses down very small. Light in the hand but stout and sturdy when extended. Mind you.. telescopic rods by nature are fragile so take care how you handle it. Perfect backpack/bike ride rod.I would rate this as 6-14 pound rod. The manufacturers rating seems a little light.

I caught more than 60 large size trout in two months, so this combo performance is very good. The product combo is unique due to the 10ft length of the rod, so one can reach to hidden places behind obstacles on the river. However there was an issue with the spool, the break tooth broke off, so it was good that they included a spare. I also sent an email request for a replacement tool and Tina from Sougayilong responded the same evening and shipped a replacement spool. So I am very satisfied with this purchase.

The media could not be loaded.  This is the perfect lightweight telescopic fishing pole. It is a great add to my backpack, when hiking, in case we find some water for fishing.It feels solid and sturdy. Plus, it holds my reel tight and snug.Great find!

I was decided to see what a $20 travel rod could be used for. Well it turns out it is a decent fishin pole. I have a few now, the 12 footer, 8 and 7 foot as well. The craziest part is I can cast the 12 foot WAY further than I can cast a $250 Okuma 4 piece travel rod. I doubt the TroutBoy would wold up to a 20 lb jack in the surf, like the okuma does. But it'll send a 4 oz lure 150 yrds. And it fits in the Okuma Travel tube, so I can bring both when I go to Mexico.

For $20 it’s a good buy. I keep it in my trunk and use it for creek fishing all I need is a pocket full of tackle a bucket and this rod too get bait. Wish the tip was a bit more sensitive but no complaints it’s not bad at all. Very handy beats a pocket fisherman lol not too bash on then I’ve used one forever 😁🤘

I purchased this for my partners birthday as he had done aLOT of research on telescopic fishing rods.Once we recieved it we took it out of the packaging to notice it was of a much lesser quality than expected.It had blemishes in the paint and scratches as if it had been used before.Not how you expect a new rod to look.Quite poor workmanship really and much thinner and fragile than it looks.My partner decided the rod wasnt for him and he was really disappointed.I tried to return it but the very limited option of locations available for me to drop off at are too far for me to get to as i dont drive and limited mobility so had to cancel return .So now i am left with a rod that i cant return and ive lost my money on it plus i had to then buy him a replacement present .Im really not happy.Save yourself time and money and look at something else.

I bought this fishing rod and I'm so happy with it went fishing holds pretty good .and its nice and comfortable for storing cuz its small when it's in .and the reel I was very surprised it is very soft and nice to use. if I were to get another one of those I would get the exact same one for that price its awesome .....😊

Not impressed. Some rings are not seated properly, some are made crooked and there's ornamental ring by the reel mount which is loose and rattling, probably to scare fish for:) Don't think it's worth the money.
