The Silent Basketball has been one of the best gifts my son has enjoyed and used this summer. However, there are a few important aspects to consider before purchasing it:1. Not a Replacement for a Real Basketball: The Silent Basketball is not designed to replace a real basketball used on courts or for training.2. Size vs. Weight and Texture: Although the ball is the size of a "real" basketball, its weight and texture are different.3. Shape Upon Arrival: Many reviews mention that the ball doesn't have a perfect shape upon arrival. It's important to note that the ball is shipped compressed, so you must wait about 24 hours to regain its proper shape.That being said, this ball is a total success for kids, teens, and adults who love basketball and want to dribble all day indoors. Both my son and my husband spend hours dribbling and passing the ball between their legs around the house. As the name suggests, it is a silent ball made of foam, so it doesn't make noise indoors. The ball bounces very well and is the same size as a real basketball.After almost a month of daily use, the ball is starting to show signs of wear, but this doesn't bother my son. In the photo, you can see the ball after more than a month of continuous indoor use. Since the ball is made of foam, it shouldn't be used outdoors or on courts, and I understand it might not bounce as well on carpet. For the price, the ball is definitely worth it.

Unfortunately, we gave it 24 hours or more to expand and it’s just a weird wide oval shape and not a round basketball. My son was super excited for this so I’m bummed it didn’t live up to his expectations.**update: I came back to say after my son bounced it around a bit it started to take shape. However, he’s only had it a couple weeks and the foam is already breaking and I anticipate having to buy a new one in a month.

My son loves anything that is going to drive me crazy (like countinually bouncing a ball inside the house). When I saw this "silent basketball" I thought my prayers had been answered. LOL.. It really is much better than a regular ball bouncing in the house. It did take a while to become round once we took it out of the package but he still had fun throwing it around the house when it was oblong. He has figured out that he can still annoy me if he takes this upstairs to bounce it since it's not silent between floors but it really is MUCH better!

If dribbled on the second floor, it is not silent! lol

Not worth it IMO. Cheap foam and dose not bounce like a basketball. Not great for serious training. More like a toy.

These silent basketballs are weird, but fun to play with. We like how it bounces, albeit not as well as a normal basketball. It makes it bounce off of the backboard differently as well.For formal basketball use it might not be the best, but for catching and throwing development it's great. It doesn't hurt your hands to catch it so it makes for good practice for little ones. It also doesn't hurt if you get hit in the face.It's well made, although it is a little lopsided from shipping. It has pretty much rounded out over the last few weeks, but it's still a little odd shaped.Would recommend.

Unfortunately the ball never inflated to 100% so it bounces in a strange direction every other bounce. It's great for practicing losing your dribble, because you absolutely will. We like it and use it, but it would have been better if it was actually round.
