A must read excellent book
I'm delighted to see this book finally out! It is my honor to know the author, having been invited to her place and experienced her cooking. I've learned to experiment in her cooking style. She writes her recipe in easy to follow instruction. This book is not only about recipes and cooking but also her advocacy about healthy eating and cost efficiency. But most of all it is a journey where she takes her readers to see the beauty of the Philippines, also to know and understand Filipino culture, specially their hospitality. It is an enjoyable book to read, one you want not only in your kitchen but also in your living room coffee table.

I''d give it a 5
I'd give it a 5, but I put 4 only because I found that some of the recipes lacked instruction and for one who's never cooked this type of food, it left me to figure it out on my own. For example, there are no measurements for the lumpia sweet and sour sauce ingredients, and I could use some tips on rolling the lumpia. Other than that, I love the stories, pictures and am very excited to try more recipes.

Non-biased critical review
Wow, as a professed "foodie" and critique of all genre of cooking, I am extremely satisfied with this book. Having grown up in the U.S. and thus being an Americanized Filipino, I did not clearly appreciate all that is Filipino cuisine until later in life. It has been years in the making for this cookbook and after reviewing it, I am genuinely impressed with what it has to offer. The heartfelt editorial inputs from the authors many friends and colleagues adds a tremendous amount of credibility, color and perspective which makes this not only a book full of "wonderful" recipes but an insight and a personal enlightenment to the Filipino culture. This book will sit proudly on my coffee table (I will use a second copy in the kitchen only). The bottom line is this book inspires me to seek more about my culture, my heritage and to enjoy as much of the cuisine as possible in my home. I look forward to future editions and "journeys."Salamat "Lady Datin Anita."Carl Schon
