Just Awesome!
I admit, I have always wanted to try hand at woodcarving. I've done a few projects that involved small things, but hired a pro to do anything big. My wife got this set for me and I resolve to give it a go.I am not familiar with all the ins and outs of hand work with bent chisels, but have been a woodworker most of my life and I think I can spot a good tool when I see it. I am impressed and blown away by the balance, feel, and quality of these tools. Even the nylon mallet. I have an old Lignum Vitae mallet and I really think I like this one better. The old one had to be wrapped in a damp rag if the climate went dry to prevent cracking and generally babied a lot. This nylon one has none of those problems (but neither does it have the panache of the beautiful old wood). With 12 tools of various shapes and sizes, it looks like a nice high quality beginner set...and I bet someone with knowledge and experience could turn out beautiful creations with just these tools. They may be a shade under the Old House, German carving tools quality, but I really think they are close. For the price it looks like a very good deal to me. Just have to let time show us if they last. And if the back ends start to splay out a little, may have to sweat some rings on them or something, but they are surely worth it. They are pretty sharp right out of the box, but still need a touch up to achieve a real edge. And if you don't know what Steinbrucke means, you will have to use a Chinese dictionary to find it. I wholeheartedly recommend these tools to anyone (like myself) who wants to play in the world of the hand woodworker and try to create beautiful things one chip at a time...go for it.

Pretty decent set of tools, and are moderately sharp out of the box, but can use some help.
These tools can use a nice honing to really shine and cut well, but they're okay enough to get a taste straight out of the roll. The handles are of decent quality, and make the tools comfortable to hold.

Very Good Wood Carving Kit
This wood carving kit arrived well packaged. Everything to me about this kit is positive. The canvas roll is really nice the way it is laid out. When you unroll it, there is an upper and lower flap that is still covering the tools. You open those up and these tools look amazing. Everything has its’ own sleeve to slide into. The handles are nicely finished and have an identifier on the handle so you know right away what chisel is what without having to remove all of them to find the one you want. The metal is well polished and all the chisels are very sharp. There is even a spot in the canvas roll for the hammer too. Everything in this kit fits in that roll. When I tried the chisels out, I was really impressed! I can’t vouch for hard wood as I didn’t have any handy but I could just push them into the pine wood and you’d see a long curl of wood roll up. I tried the hammer out and to me at least, I think this hammer is very good too. Looks as good as it did before being used. I tapped onto the chisels with the hammer and it was just so smooth. The wood offered very little resistance. Everything worked so well in this kit. I was hoping for this to be the best but at the same time, I was thinking this is a beginner set so don’t get your hopes up too high but everything worked out great. Not one disappointment, not even a little. As I said, these chisels are sharp and with them being made out of CR-V steel that means these wood carving tools should have good edge retention and stay sharp longer and are tougher and stronger than carbon steel. These chisels also have a Rockwell of 60 denoting hardness, that is really good. All that sounds like pretty good quality blades to me.

Amazing set for the price, get a better storage bag tho
Versatile set with everything a beginner would need. Good quality chisels and rubber mallet. For the price I'm shocked with the quality and quantity of this set! You can't beat it,. Until your spending the cost of this bundle on a single chisel you won't find better...The carry case "bag role" thingy is kinda sub par but I don't really care about the wrappings lol. If you plan on using it to store them in I'd recommend getting a second "single pocket" bag that's just a little larger to put the rolled chisels in tho. They like to fall out of the provided storage roll. You don't want to damage the chisels, your floor, or your foot if drop one....Getting a better storage bag for them is definitely recommend!

Good set for beginners
I've been a wood worker for a long time. I have some very good chisels and some cheap chisels. This set is not anything special. However, the set is a great starting place for anyone starting or for hobbyists. The cons;-The handles are a cheaper soft wood and will take a beating. My set came with a few dents and gouges in the handles already.-The steel is not super hardThe Pros;-The set is big enough to cover all your bases. You'll get all the cut styles you'll need- The steel is polished, clean, and oiled so if your shop isn't climate controlled these wont rust right away- The little mallet and the roll bag are nice add ons.- The steel is hard enough. So I know I said that the steel isn't super hard then I said that it's "hard enough", my practice is always to touch up the sharpness of my chisels in between projects. This usually just means using a strop and touching up the edge is good enough. With this set, you may want to just go one step further than the strop. With that said though, for most Hobbyists and DIY guys, you'll be good for a while.I'd also recommend that if you use the roll bag to store the chisels in, spray the fabric with some WD40 or other oil. This will ensure they never rust.Overall, I'm happy with these and will be tucking this set into our camper for me to take on trips when we go so I have something to play with. These wont replace/compete with expensive chisels but they're a good value and a complete set.
