Chaos: Beneath the Secrets, Book 1

Luna Mason has once again told an incredible story. Fantastic start to a new series."in spite of everything, there is always beauty in chaos."This book is intense and deals with heavy emotions from the MC, Jax, whom we met in Luna's Beneath the Mask series. It's definitely on the darker side and deals with some mental health struggles.This book is a romance, so there is a HEA, but Luna is really gonna put these characters through it to get there. You'll laugh at the banter. You'll cry with their pain. It's heavy, but the journey is absolutely worth it."It's like she's the cure to this dark hole inside of me. My light.""Men, like anybody else, sometimes just need to be held tight and told that everything will be okay."

It was well written and engaging. The dialog was a little repetitive, as were other parts, which is why I only gave it four stars. But the book had a great story line, wonderful characters and stayed at a good steady pace.

Currently on page 140 and just had to start my review because I’m a little surprised that the MFC’s best friend just keeps coming off as passive aggressive/judgmental. My first thought about this would be that I wish the author did a chapter in between of when the best friend and MFC moved in together and bonded over raising the kiddo. I think that would show why said friend is around instead of the constant doubt/nagging that’s happened so far.Update: I’m 229 pages in and eeeew Anna is not the vibe yall, but the main characters? LOVE them. I started reading this book around 8 last night and it’s 7am now and I can’t put this book down. The emotions portrayed as he finds out about his kiddo is heartwarming. I can’t wait to see what comes next. (Side note- her ex is a piece of work, I get really ick vibes about him and whatever he is up to!)Update it’s now 8:30 pm and I’ve binged the entire book. HOLY PLOT TWIST. This book is a serious tear jerker for a hot minute but Lordy those personal moments between the main characters is ✨chefs kiss✨!! I am still standing by wishing that there has been more of a character bonding development between Soph and Anna before Jax came back, I think it would really deepen the emotion push and pull towards the end but other than that, this book easily tops my top 5 this year. I can’t wait for more in this series (seriously, I’ll be anxiously waiting for them all!)It’s rare that the drama shocks me, thank you for this gem of a page turner. Looking forward to reading more from you!

I picked this book up from our book club, so I knew going into it was a secret baby troupe, which I love. I decided to listen on this one, and between the quick pace of the chapter the the narration, I flew this this book. Jax is reeling from losing someone close to him, and Sofia is fleeing her wedding when they meet. He knows this is his sister n law, but one night was something they did before moving on with their lives. Years later, they end up back in the same area, and he sees her as a strip club, and this is where the fun begins. I liked how Sofia was very open with him about his kid, and I liked how this crappy ex was more entwined in their lives. The thought, once the secret was out, you could really see Jaz inner thoughts were never positive about himself or what he can do for his new family. The book became pretty predictable, and I was annoyed about how no one really spoke out loud after the night in the bar with Jax on how obviously he was a setup. I was surprised how much this book highlighted mental health and especially for men. I was holding my breath and tears in one scene. It was a very easy book to read. If you don't love mafia, I can still see people reading this since it's not so heavy in mafia until the end.

I absolutely love Jax and Sofia. Their love is amazing! I loved that Jax was so possessive, loving & SO FREAKING CARING!!! I don’t think I’ve read an MMC who treats his woman the way he treats Sofia. He really loves her and constantly shows it throughout the book. And Maeve. Oh my! 🥹The very important topic in this story was also so incredibly well- written. You gave it the perfect amount of importance and shined a big light on men’s every day struggles. My eyes were a mess through all of those chapters!Thank you for giving us these amazing books! I honestly cannot wait for the rest of the series!! I love Nikolai and Alexei so much!! ❤️“I love you, Sofia. You complete me in ways I never even realized I was missing. You are everything. Well holy cow!! I mean Jax has to be one of my favorite people in this world. Like this personality in the first series was just amazingly funny. And it absolutely broke my heart about Kai. To see Jax develop into such an incredible character throughout this book was so satisfying. And then Sofia! That poor woman has put through so much with Brody, and then with her own grief and sadness about her family. It’s so heartbreaking. It was devastating to read the parts where Jax and her were fighting. My heart broke. Then Jax’s letter absolutely destroyed me. I was a sobbing mess. I absolutely loved this book. Highly recommend!!

This is the first book I have read from this author and it won’t be my last. It was an Emotional Journey and it was good to read about a strong man going through What he was going through. It’s not talked about enough about mental illness in man and that was heart breaking. Enjoyed the book and I can’t wait for the next book.

OH. My. God. This is amazing. I absolutely loved every single second of reading this. 💖 This book is flawless from start to end and not to forget The Chemistry! The Spice!! The Emotions!!! I loved everything, the whole Story the characters the spice 😙🤌🏻and she didnt just wrote about mental health she wrote about men' mental health how the struggle with emotions they have to face while being haunted by the past and drowning in grief.and also how they think they have to fullfiel the expectations of masculinuty due to societal.

Chaos by Luna Mason, Book One of Beneath the Secrets series brings us the story of The King of Chaos, Jax.The beginning of Jax and Sofia’s relationship may have come about a little unconventionally, oh man their instant connection and chemistry lit up the pages.Jax has and is still struggling to deal with a tragic event that has significantly impacted his life. Luna’s writing of these scenes is handled with care and has shone a much needed light on the struggles that can affect anyone.Enter a strong willed, determined FMC. Sofia knows what she wants, and not afraid or shy about getting it. When Sofia found the letter I just knew she was going to fight hard.Thank you Luna for an enjoyable story which I both read and listened to. I very much look forward to diving further in to Beneath the Secrets series.The audiobook performances from Sebastian York and CJ Bloom drew me deep into Jax and Sofia’s world, “there is always beauty in chaos”.Sebastian’s portrayal of Jax, with his complex feelings, emotions surrounding the loss of someone close along with CJ Bloom’s portrayal of Sofia’s strength and determination to work through their pain and find comfort in each other, certainly captured my attention for the entire book. Highly recommend both reading and listening.
