The hand is smooth, and the perfect size for your palm, but it is extremely heavy, I purchased this for a client aged 89, she has small wrists and delicate in nature, we had already purchased a spoon then realise we required a handle, ordered the handle and my word it is extremely heavy, I could be bothered to send back had gone to a charity shop.So even though this is a well made produce, smooth and palm size it is really extremely heavy I wouldn't recommend for people with arthritis or a weakness in the wrist
