704 Gear Midnight Scout: A High-End Blade Without the High-End Price Tag
If James Bond, a lumberjack, and a samurai designed a knife together, it would probably look a lot like the 704 Gear Midnight Scout. This thing is dripping with class and cutting power, thanks to that 3.35" Damascus steel drop-point blade. Normally, you’d have to sell a kidney to get a Damascus blade this nice, but somehow, 704 Gear pulled it off at a price that won’t make your wallet cry.Let’s talk about that blood sandalwood handle, smooth, stylish, and feels like it belongs in a gentleman’s whiskey lounge. It’s got just the right weight and balance, making it comfortable enough for all-day carry but still solid enough to feel like a real tool, not just pocket jewelry. The action? Silky smooth, flipping open with a satisfying snap and locking up like a vault. High-end looks, premium materials, and a price that makes you feel like you pulled off a heist—what’s not to love?Final Verdict:The Midnight Scout is classy, tough, and insanely well-priced. 10/10—because every man deserves a Damascus blade without needing a second mortgage.

On the larger end for EDC
First, very nice knife for not that much money. Beautiful real damascus pattern and the wood is nice. The handle fills ehe hand and does feel nice. It's on the larger end of an EDC knife, it'll take up more pocket space than the other 704 counterpart in the picture.Opens fine, though not quite as smooth as some others. The blade is sharp out of box but not super sharp. Last minor gripe would be the placement of the pocket clip. This one is tip down oriented, i prefer tip up.I do like it, great value.

Great knife without costing a fortune!đź’°
This is a very good knife for the money. The G10 scales have a nice grip but goes in and out of the pocket easily. Very good action on bearings this will be one of my go to knives for work.

Excellent Knife
The knife is well-crafted and looks amazing. The blade is sharp. There are a couple of things that I didn't like. The first is the pocket clip feeling a little flimsy, but it's still plenty strong by all appearances. The second is the release mechanism was too loose. Might sound strange to some, because why wouldn't you want a faster knife? But when I pushed my hand down into my pocket and barely touched the thumb lever, it would push the blade out. It started a hole in my pocket and even poked my thigh once. I was able to remedy that by tensioning the blade screw under the pocket clip, but not by much and it might require periodic maintenance to keep it that way. Also, the blade tensioning screw is attached to the logo. Unfortunately, in tightening the blade, it forced the logo crooked. Small thing overall.Looking forward to carrying this as my EDC for years to come!

It's decent
I got this when first released at 50% off to replace my Winchester that I've had for 10 years or so. For what I paid it was worth it but even after 10 years and countless times being sharpened, the Winchester is still a better knife. Still, I now carry this knife daily and it gets a fair amount of use for common tasks like cutting open bags/boxes, cutting zip ties and fabrics. Occasionally gets slightly heavier use cutting small copper cables. For the most part it's done everything I've needed it to and held up pretty well. It doesn't seem to hold its edge very well compared to other folding knives I have and requires more frequent sharpening than any others I have. My biggest complaint about it is the the blade doesn't like to lock in place unless I flick my wrist to snap it open. Still, it's been good enough that I haven't felt compelled to replace it yet but I can't see me getting more than 2 years out of it.

Great knife but 2 things
In my opinion two things need to be changed on this knife. First: pocket clip needs changed to tip up. Second: the jimping near the flipper tab is truly awful. If you like to fidget with your knives this jimping will ruin your finger. The damascus blade is the star of the show and the wooden scales are really nice. Great deal overall.

Should be much better...
I was looking forward to receiving this knife! Got here in a couple of days via USPS. Overall, the quality control/final inspection on the knife was lacking. On the product I received, the wood finish on the knife handle is marred/scuffed/damaged near the front of where the 704 logo is. Looks like buffing wheel/compound damage, or it may be excess glue from installing the logo disc. You must use "effort" to deploy the blade using the flipper - it does not open easily. The Damascus blade on mine was nice to look at and was sharp out of the box. This is a large knife that feels good and functionally fills the hand when gripped. It's probably an exceptional value for the money. Unfortunately, I can't get past the Quality Control issues, cheap looking finish on the wood handles, nor the extra effort needed to deploy/open the blade. Sending it back.
