Sturdy umbrella against these strong winds and heavy rain. Not to mention how it has kept me sheltered from this burning sun. I am totally in love! had to purchase another two for my parents.

The umbrella is hard to open, close, and push the handle back into place - maybe it will loosen after repeated uses - we will see.

The button to open & close it didn’t work, rendering this product completely useless.

I was happily impressed with this umbrella. You know it is a quality umbrella when it doesn't become inverted with the wind. Once you push the button, the umbrella fully opens all in one motion which was a cool feature. I would say the size of the umbrella is good for one person, and it is light weight and durable. I think I'll need to get another one these.

So, this isn't your average umbrella which lasts you one good rainstorm. It is very sturdy. The design prevents the umbrella from inverting under heavy winds. The stem and branch framework held up well to rain and wind. The spring system isn't perfect. I had to manually unfold the umbrella on one occasion. The most glaring problem was with the handle. It is so small that I had a hard time getting a good grip on it. I don't have the largest hands - in fact, my friends have commented I have tiny hands - and I had to struggle to hold the umbrella steady. When the wind started picking up, it was nearly impossible to control the umbrella due to a weak grip. This needs to be fixed. Here are the pro's: good fabric, solid frame, windproof, and spring system which works most of the times. The con's are: handle is small and the center of mass is far away from the handle making it hard to balance.

The last two times we travelled to Europe we backpacked and camped. As we carried everything on our backs we were very concerned with keeping everything we brought as light as possible. Including our travel umbrellas. The lightweight umbrellas seem to have a life span of about one week.Upon receiving my new UNDERTREE WINDPROOF TRAVEL UMBRELLA, I grabbed a surviving old travel umbrella from the closet for comparison. I opened it, and it broke, the canopy detached from two of the support spines.Anyway. This new UNDERTREE travel umbrella packs down to 11.5" length, weighs 16 ounces, with a 40" diameter canopy and features 10 support spines. My old broken travel umbrella packed down to 9.5" and weighed 9 ounces, had 8 support spines and a 36" canopy.I chose this new more substantial travel umbrella because our next adventure in Europe will be 6 weeks in the Spring in an apartment, no backpacking this time. This 16 ounce Travel Umbrella will fit just fine in my daypack and the weight will not be an issue.Should you be off on a backpacking adventure, you may wish to go lighter.I look forward to this well built umbrella surviving many Parisian showers.

Usually when I look for solid and long-lasting umbrellas, I look at the ribs that hold the umbrella open. This is what I was looking for that has ribs that can flex to the wind but stay stiff when it needs to be in order to retain its shape. The hinges and the main mount for the ribs are pretty solid too. The canopy of the umbrella is made perfectly. The stitching is solid with no odd or loose threads or overruns. For the quality and the automatic open and close, this is well worth the price. You won't be disappointed in the craftsmanship of this rain protection device.

Returned it. Did not line the closure.
