Great rocks at a great price
They are true to size, they don't jip you with smaller rocks than advertised. They are genuine lava rocks, no filler or super dirty ones. And you can't best the price. These worked great in my project.

Don’t buy for fire pit!
Hi, we just finished constructing our fire pit and put these lava rocks in. They are not meant for fire pits! They explode and turn into flying hot projectiles. I would like a refund on these.

Long lasting
I layed these rocks out front in the middle of summer and expected them to disintegrate before the end of the season like all the others I have purchased over the last few years. So far, I have been safe from this, and the rocks are holding up. I haven't tried these in a fire pit so I can't comment on that. I only used them for landscaping, but I am happy with them.

Not a bad little bag of rocks
These seem a little more dense than some other lava rocks I've used, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when you're buying them by the (5) pound like this, 5 pounds isn't a whole lot. They arrived in good condition and look great. I may supplement my fire pit with them, or use them in flower beds, not sure yet.

They're lava rocks!
This is a 5 lb bag of 2-4 inch black lava rocks. Can confirm I received a 5 lb bag 2-4 inch black lava rocks! They'll be good for filling the bottoms of some of my larger plant pots to aid with drainage, without adding so much weight as normal rocks. Might also be good added to a garden bed but I'd be careful in full sun, black tends to absorb sun and get really hot, and they might potentially overheat whatever plants they're next to. Lighter colored rocks are likely best for that purpose. Thanks!EDIT regarding fire pit usage: It didn't occur to me when I first wrote this review but lava rocks are porous, meaning they absorb water, like stony sponges. So, some old camping wisdom likely applies here: NEVER use wet rocks in a fire. Generally this applies to freshly-found river rocks but another reviewer mentioned these lava rocks exploding, and I would bet actual money that trapped moisture was the culprit. High heat from a fire will turn moisture in rocks to steam faster than it can escape, and the rock literally explodes as a result. So, if you intend on using these in a fire pit, some tips from the ol' Internet: "cure" them by lighting a fire, covering the pit with a metal grate to keep the rocks in, and BACK AWAY 15 feet or more while they finish popping. Internet says this can take 10-45 minutes depending on rock size and how wet they are. Once they stop popping, they should be dry and safe and you can sit around your fire. When done with the fire, cover the pit to keep rain off the rocks so you don't have to go through the whole thing again.Didn't change my rating, just giving some safety tips!

Love
I have a very large planter on my front porch that needed a little something. Just the dirt was boring. I added some lava rocks and it made an instant change and was just what it needed. Subtle, yet powerful and beautiful.

Dangerous
These rocks say they are for a propane fire pit. The first time I used them, a hot rock exploded and burned several holes in the chairs around the fire. I thought it was a one-time thing but instead, it happened again two to three times before I simply turned the fire off and discarded them.
