The Professor..
I am new to this author. This is my first book from her and I'm completely hooked. I love her style of writing it's definitely different from other authors I like. The Professor, enticing story, great book cover. If I have to find a bad point it's the story is only from the MFC pov. I would I loved to also have Will pov. Bring on the Student, the next instalment.

The Professor
I expected to like this story a lot more than I actually did. I do love a student teacher romance, older man younger woman trope. Anything that is a little forbidden. I liked the storyline but something which I can’t put my finger on made me not love it. It was good, had some hot sexy scenes. But it just didn’t do it for me. I liked the characters for the most part. I may still read the next book in the series.

Not my most favourite read from Skye -I was looking for a bit more.
Hmm, I'm not too sure how I feel about this one tbh. I was looking forward to reading it as I have read a number of Skye's previous books that were set in the original Tanglewood Universe. So when I saw this was going to be a spin off/continuation, I was excited to potentially see more of those characters and the secrets of that world. Plus, I love the student-teacher forbidden style trope and the chemistry it can bring if done properly.Whilst this had a good storyline to it, in regards to the Shakespeare Society and the secrets that surrounded the characters pasts, I just wasn't fully hooked and I was a bit disappointed that this wasn't a complete story. Instead it ends on a cliff-hanger, which is great at times, but I've come to expect it from Skye and unfortunately the remaining books of the series don't often live up to the excitement of the first book.I wouldn't say there was anything that I necessarily disliked about this, and I am intrigued as to what's going to happen next which is why I would rate this 3*. But, I'm hoping we get more background on Will though, because I do feel like I've missed some of his story? Now, I don't know whether we saw any mention of him in the OG Tanglewood series, but if we did, I either don't remember/haven't read those books.

oh the twist
If I could rate this book a hundred stars I would, I’m so emotionally torn, I love it but hate it (without giving anything away!) Just absolute magic, can’t wait for the next one! 🔥

More than just Professor/Student Forbidden Romance
The Professor is my first read by new to me author Skye Warren. In Tanglewood University series, this first book follows dual perspective of Student Anne ‘Annie’ Elizabeth Hall and The Professor William ‘Will’ Stratford’s story, in what is considered a Professor/Student, Dark Academia, Secret Society, Forbidden Romance.Author Skye Warren proved there was much more to this story than just being a Professor/Student, Forbidden Romance. From the inclusion of side subplots going on alongside the exploration of Anne and Will’s relationship, The Professor had me intrigued to keep on reading onwards. With a fulfilling narrative IMO, it made it all the more satisfying. More so knowing that it wasn’t going to be a typical straightforward story with some drama due to the forbidden-ness of their relationship. The fact that there was more than meets the eye, given the elements of secret society, family problems and dark academia that interconnected everything together proved so.The twists and turns thrown along the way caused the mystery to grow in suspense, having you thinking and wondering what it could all mean.As well as wanting the answers to all the questions that seemed to be coming out of the woodworks. Which ultimately resulted in being reeled in slowly along the way, having been captured from the intrigue and suspenseful build up you could feel growing, even more so the closer towards the end you reached.Though it should be known some of it also came from seeing the slow unfolding of Will’s character too, who kept you hanging on from his enigmatic behaviour and leaving you curious for more. There were a couple of moments IMO where the story had me wondering if it would pick up. And what didn't help was the slowness of the narrative that felt like there did not seem to be any movement in any progress being made at those times, at least to me.However those moments didn’t last too long, before there was pickup again in development to be had and shown. With all the unanswered questions, the continuous mystery and the secrets, lies and betrayal. On top of the cliffhanger ending. Safe to say author Skye Warren has me excited for book two The Student to see what’s to come from Anne and Will and their ongoing story within Tanglewood University series.

I love a good, forbidden romance book, especially the whole professor/student trope, with this one being no exception. I devoured it! Wow, it was brilliant….the only thing I'm going to complain about is the way that it was left. I won't explain why so as to not spoil it, but you'll understand what I mean if you read. The ending was so unexpected and a total 180 from the rest of the book….amazing! I adore when an author can throw in a spanner in the works and when it is one that I haven't already anticipated, well, that makes it even better. The plot and the character development from this author were really good, and the spice! Holy moly….the spice was hitting in all the right spots; the mouth on Will was just….*chefs kiss*....I need more! I can't wait to read the next book. Whilst the book was on the shorter side of what I normally prefer, this didn't take anything away from the story. At no point did I feel like I had missed something or that stuff had been glossed over. This has been written beautifully.Would 10/10 recommend!
