A gripping and moving read.
Well written, had me gripped from the first chapter. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series, I preordered when I purchased this one. Rosa is a brilliant character, as are Sophie, Hannah and Rachel. Rosa deals with her demons head on and her parents, eventually, seem to deal positively with their new life inLondon. A recommended read.

Good
I was well into this series and enjoying both books. But very disappointed when I'd finished number two to find no follow up ? Perhaps I've missed something but definitely no more books. It's left so many questions? Most annoying

Secrets!
Following Rosa Herzelfeld boards the St Louis with her parents to set sail for Cuba believing that this is the beginning of a new life for them, then on reaching their destination they are refused permission to leave ship. Some of the destinations mentioned as alternatives are America, France, Belgium and England. Does it really matter which, at least they will be safe from the Nazis. The same one that her father fraternised with, will those secrets come back to haunt them?Rosa becomes friendly with another refugee, Peter Gelb who has more reason than some to hate the Nazis. Rosa has a deep secret that she’d rather not have to reveal. When there is a change in her circumstances she may be forced to divulge the details! While I enjoyed the storyline of this book I felt it was repetitive at the beginning, especially after having just read book 1, and felt the story ended much too soon.

A really moving novel
I just couldn’t put this book down. It is really heartbreaking but one to read for sure

Unfinished stories
Whilst I enjoyed reading both books in the Emerald series, I was left feeling thoroughly seen off. Reading both through my kindle, I was nowhere near 100%, when each ended abruptly, with the remainder of the percentage being filled with extracts of other books to entice me to purchase. With so many unanswered questions and unfinished stories in these two books, I won’t be reading anything further from this author.

Gripping
I finished this book in two sittings, what a story, I mean book one is so so good and book two is written a slightly softer tone, but still a page turner. This time we follow Rosa, her father Fritz and mother. Their relationship with each other is strained for so many reasons. Her father who is a doctor working with/for the Nazis and entertaining them being a huge weight on their shoulders. Where his reasons strong enough? We see Rosa’s perspective from her time on the ship, anxiously waiting to hear if she’d be back in Nazi Germany or would another country take her and her family in.Finally, taken in as a refugee in London things are dire but she does what she can to improve their lives, since her parents’ wont. Her strength comes from the green emerald shard and her longing to see Sophie, Hannah and Rachel again.Sharing space with orthodox jews comes with its own insight since her family aren’t orthodox, learning a new language to improve her employment chances is all she can do. Ending up at Port Erin, seeing her parents through new eyes, the journey is just beginning. Wonderful, well written. A recommended read.

Very Moving Storyline - Another Great Book
This is the 3nd book in the series and after reading the first I was looking forward to reading Rosa's story. Fleeing Germany on board a ship with her family she makes friends with a few other Jewish girls and they form a pact to meet up again after the war in a particular place. It tells the hardship she has to go through having to learn to speak English and try to get away from what she and her family did in Germany. This soon catches up with them and ends up with her doing something that she would never have thought possible. The book ended up leaving me thinking that there is another book to see what happens next and I really hope that there is.

a great story of love and courage
The author paints a clear portrait with her words. The characters are bold and beautiful with their human emotions and raw spirit. Readers are transported back to another time and place. Its easy to visualize the scenes, apparel and places. A good page turner.

Book 2
I read the first book in this series and enjoyed it. I don’t always read the next book in a series, but in this case I’m glad I did - I actually found Book 2 more intriguing. The characters became up close and personal in this one, and the plot really drew me in. There has to be a Book 3 though - which one of the four women doesn’t make it to the reunion destination? Hopefully Book 3 is in the works?

Not bad - not great
The book was good right up until the end. Unless there is going to be a book 3 in "The Emerald Sisters" series, the end leaves you at a loss. I kept re-reading the prologue thinking I missed something, but I didn't. The book was good but lacks a finish to the story.
