For Troubled Catholics Considering Orthodoxy...there is no better book
In brief: Just as "Catholicism and Fundamentalism" became the Catholic apologetic standard for Evangelical Fundamentalism, this work now stands as the standard for Catholic apologetics engaging Orthodoxy (or the many Orthodoxies). While I have several books in my library *comparing* Orthodoxy and Catholicism, and some which address specific issues in great depth - this is the only book which takes a comprehensive approach. The author tackles 30 common objections raised by Orthodox apologists against Catholicism. The book is segmented into three clear sections: Doctrinal Attacks, Historical Attacks, and Liturgical Attacks.Throughout the work, the author approaches the subject with clarity and charity (being formerly Orthodox, and still much enamored with the Eastern liturgy). While I was already somewhat familiar with the subject, and many of the works of the authors cited (Meyendorff, Manoussakis, Fr. Damick, Schmemann, et. al) - I was surprised at how clearly and concisely the author used their words to prove his points. Context was provided at every step, making this a great book for beginners - but it was not lacking in depth, even given the breadth of topics covered in a relatively brief space for a nearly 1,000-year-old debate.

So nuanced!! Covers the intricacies of the faith remarkably well.
I loved this book. As a former Protestant I fell in love with the faith and its deep history. Suddenly going to church made sense, there was a reason for it. Then I started hearing from a group that made me think that the church I joined was in big trouble. Now I’m hearing that the Pope is teaching heresy!! I cannot tell you HOW THANKFUL I HAVE BEEN to find Michael Lofton and have him explain what is happening so that I don’t have to leave the church. The church is struggling, but this external movement of the laity that is being mislead / misleading everyone is making it seem so so much worse. Michael brings clarity!!

Not enough proof to back up its apologias
The author lacks authenticity in providing substantial proof in trying to defend the heresy of Roman Catholicism by attacking the Holy East of Orthodoxy with silly personal errors of it's hierarch's like the most recent baptism of a same-sex couple's children. Notwithstanding, the fact that the Holy Church dosen't have any issue in baptizing the children. Regardless, the author blindly retracts from the long standing serious issues that have corrupted Catholicism with her homosexual clergyman from senior level, and child abuse scandals. It's a waste of money buying this book as I totally disagree with the author's arguments of defense when he has very little proof to back up his claims. Like it is a common practice of liturgical abuse in Catholicism with Clown Mass, and other fictional characters the priests wear to serve "Mass". As for the more serious nature of the so-called Mass; it's not even a true Eucharist as it is in Holy Orthodoxy- its only a mockery because you NEVER see any of the smaller wafer discs "consecrated" it's only the big wafer disc that the priest consumes is 'consecrated'; and you NEVER see the "wine" aka Blood given to the faithful- ONLY the priest consumes of the cup before the people. What kind of "Eucharist" is this??? Definitely not Christian in origin, it has definite pagan connotations and so the author makes no proper dogmatical apologias to "correct" the Orthodox because he lacks the truth to begin with!
