Big BarkerDog Beds Waterproof Liner Extra Large - Headrest Edition

It fits the bed just perfect, and works as advertised. Great investment to keep the doggie memory foam dry. Worth every penny.

We bought this for our 5 month old yellow lab. This hopefully will be the only bed she'll need through her lifetime (10-12 years). She climbed on right away and has been laying on it more than I anticipated. We also bought the waterproof liner, too, since she is a puppy and enjoys chewing things on it as well as laying in the wet grass when outside. So far, so good. A couple things about the cover, though:- The microfiber is very thin. I'm not at all convinced of its longevity/durability. I saw a review where the owner mentioned a cordura cover option for those needing a more robust cover. This is not offered on the Big Barker website. I'm hoping this really is available since I feel certain we'll be replacing the cover regularly if we have to rely on the microfiber version. At $100/replacement cover, the initial cost of the bed may seem cheap over its life! Also, if there is a cordura option, it would have be nice to have been able to select that option to begin with, without having to pay for a replacement. Presumably it would make for a much more cost effective investment if the bed came with the cordura cover when delivered. (Net cost of the cost of the microfiber cover it replaces). Even if only 1 color was offered.- I'd suggest having the manufacturer tags sewn into the bottom seam of the cover, sewn into the zipper stitching under the bed instead. These will be an easy target for our dog to chew and likely tear the microfiber cover in the process. She'd never know they were there if they were safely tucked under the bed, out of sight.On the whole, though, the bed is very supportive! And she likes it a lot, including the pillow. I would think most dogs would love laying/sleeping on it!! I can particularly see how it would be a very useful bed for older dogs. I wish we would have had one for our nearly 11 year old lab who passed last year.

The Big Barker Dog Bed (XL) was a godsend for me and my pup. I was going through 3 cheapo beds a year because they just fell apart under his weight, they got soiled beyond belief and, let's face it, they just provided no real cushion to such a big dog. The BB Dog Bed saved the day and the waterproof liner is the icing on the cake. It keeps the bed itself clean and dry and is super resistant to punctures, even his light nibbling on the edge. 5 star ratings on both and both are highly recommend to anyone w/ a large breed who is tired of buying multiple new beds a year. The BB dog bed is especially supportive for our older pups too.

I’ve read reviews where customers have complained about the fit and were unable to tell the top from the bottom. The company is now attaching a small label to the top end. You can barely see it in these photos on the bottom left. That is the head of the bed. I found it easier to lay out the cover on the floor; then lay the bed on top of the cover head bolster with the head rest down. Then I fitted the cover over the bottom of the bed matching the corner seams. Gradually move up the bed, fitting it in until you reach the top. It’s not easy because the foam is “sticky”, it grabs the cover and the cover doesn’t “slide” on, it has to be pressed and worked with. This takes a little effort, but once the bed is fitted into the cover, it’s great. It took me about 15 minutes to get it put together. The fit is great. At first I thought it was going to be too tight, but it’s not all all. Once it’s on it is roomy. Also, it will make it much easier to change the cover.

Let me start this out saying that I love the Big Barker company and their beds are the reason my German shepherd mix I adopted doesn’t have as much hip pain anymore so I am forever grateful for them!!I am only writing this to help others make a decision as I know I was years ago. My dog had her first accident on her big barker after she had a cancerous mass removal done. I took off the cover and the liner and the foam did indeed smell like urine so I’m gonna have to say the waterproof liner is not 100% waterproof.Overall I would never let this deter you from getting a big barker bed, they are the most incredible beds for my dogs.

This liner is definitely worth ordering - I swear by it! I know things can get costly, especially if your ordering in a bundle/from the start - mattress, liner & cover but if you're going to order the bed, maker sure to add this to your list! It does exactly as promised!! It truly is water proof. I have a cat, who every once in a blue moon, gets the little thought in his head to pee on the dog's bed (regardless that his litter box is clean & doesn't have an infection - I eliminated any possible explanation). I've thrown out a number of previous inexpensive dog beds bought at the pet store due to this and prior to getting this bed, I had a cooling mat for my German Shepherd to use as a bed. But as he's getting older I wanted to give him more support. The cat who shall remain nameless to prevent public shamming LOL, although I'm sure he wouldn't be bothered either way (mind you he can be a love, if I'm being honest) has peed on this bed 4-5 times that I had it and thank goodness it was lined! All I had to do was wipe it up a bit as it doesn't soak thru and wash the cover & liner. The bed was saved and so was my cat ;) ha ha. It's easy to wash and put back on. You never know what might happen, so definitely get this with the bed - it's a great investment!
