Django 5 By Example: Build powerful and reliable Python web applications from scratch 5th Edition

Great book! Clear and detailed explanations followed by practical examples. Very comprehensive for anyone who is interested in learning Django.

I’ve been working with Django for a few years now in FinTech. I purchased Django 5 By Example a few months ago to get a feel for what was new in Django 5 and check out more advanced applications of Django and I am impressed with the coverage of topics that I found transferable to up my game at work and enhance my own personal projects. I used one of the earliest books in this series by Antonio Melé to create projects step-by-step and the learning-by-doing approach was so helpful in grasping the very complex world of the Django Web Framework as a beginner/intermediate developer. As I’ve gained more experience, this book fills in gaps and advances my skills further. The book is well-indexed which is very helpful for revisiting topics that, of course, contain real-world examples you can use. This book is invaluable to any Django developer whether you are a beginner or using it day-to-day in your work for many years.

Earlier I had my hands on Blazor and React, but did not stop there, I also wanted to get known some web frameworks that have been around for a while. I was not disappointed, nor was I surprised - Django delivers and over-delivers!Programming in Django (I opted for a DigitalOcean droplet) I felt like I am driving a premium vehicle with a rich array of features a knob press away compared to some other Web Frameworks.Again, I really liked Django: it is a versatile and powerful Web Framework with almost any feature just an import directive away! You do not even feel like you are writing in Python.In short, this book is a great companion to starting developing Web Apps in Django, it was the key to my success.The practical part of the book begins with building a personal blog website: who knows maybe you will use to your advantage while learning!The journey continues with building a social website. It was fun! A lot of the material there rotated around the user authentication that I found being essential to such Web apps.From there we go to creating an online shop: as you guessed it: a very much in demand and useful skill. So you are in a good company.However, the learning journey does not stop there, it continues to building an E-Learning Platform. This is a splendid and welcome part. Besides, the book does not end with only these Web Apps, it has more. Lastly it obviously includes how to finally go live.My final thoughts:The best and most liked by me chapter was on tracking user actions. It is very uncommon in the other books, but the author made a correct choice.The book author nicely summarizes the chapters with useful and succinct "good to know"s that would be used in the future for a quick look up or refreshes.If I were asked what could be improved is probably the length of several chapters in the book.The other is the absence (probably to keep the book size lower) the unit testing.You will enjoy both the book and Django!

If your goal is to learn how to take your Python skills to the next level and build out websites, this book is for you. Django 5 By Example 5th edition will walk you through the ins and outs of using Django to build websites in an easy-to-understand way. You will learn by doing, hence the By Example in the title. The book walks you through several projects step by step so that you can learn concepts as you need them instead of giving you all the theory with small snippets. I find that by building complete applications you will better understand the features that you are using and can make better decisions of when and how to use those features in your future applications.If you are already an experienced Python developer, you owe it to yourself to check this book out so that you can see what other kinds of apps you can build. Ones that run in a browser. Even if you have some experience with Django in the past it's a great read that will bring you up to speed very quickly with the latest version of Django.

I really appreciated the author's breakdown and step-by-step explanations as a newer web developer utilizing Django. The chapters are well organized, and easy to follow. I was able to get the app up and running with minimal googling to troubleshoot local issues. From setup to deployment I highly recommend this book and the author. Much success on your developer journey!

Great content, very thorough, however this does NOT come with a free digital version like it says. Publisher does not accept Amazon invoices or receipts as proof of purchase so I am guessing this is only for select vendors? Either way, decent book but 4 stars for lying.

A very excellent book on the steps a developer or non developer can take to create a functioning web application. One recommendation would be to add a chapter or two about Django integration with react native and another chapter and postman and how to add DJANGO APIs with RN. Overall I would not hesitate to buy.
