No editors?
My daughter is currently reading the book, 3/4 of the way done. She said the story is good so far, however, it appears there was no editing done. She said the spelling of the characters names changed, the tenses within paragraphs are inconsistent, the grammar is poor, “there, they’re, and their” is improperly used. She said it ruins the flow of the story. We are a homeschool family, so at least we can use this book as a springboard to explain how important grammar and editing is when writing a story. The plot is an interesting one, and we are in Ohio so we liked that it was something with which we could relate. Hopefully the author will choose to enlist an editor for future printings and it will make for a better story. I was hopeful about buying the Hocking Hills book as well, but now I am apprehensive that we will run into the same issues.
