Works very well.
Great size and turns the compost pile well. The segments of the pipe are a bit loose when they are connected and so the shift rattles and clicks as you're using it. Doesn't really affect its effectiveness but it feels just a bit unsolid. I put a little bit of tape around the male ends like others mentioned before connecting the segments, but it's still a bit loose, even though the wing nuts are cranked down tight. On the topic of wing nuts, they are a bit bulky and uncomfortable when you grab onto them by mistake when you're trying to clean the spiral off. Lock nuts would be much better on this product..

Mighty fine tool for turning compost
The media could not be loaded. Composting is an ecosystem of decaying organic matter which results in nutrient-rich soil. For a quicker decomposition of materials, you can layer green (fresh leaves, banana peels, veggie scraps) and brown organic materials (dried leaves, shredded newspaper)and keep it moist and oxygenated. A compost turner tool helps the process by churching up the mix to evenly distribute material and adding air. It can also help when a compost pile becomes waterlogged and turns smelly from anaerobic decomposition. If you notice a stench, dig in and churn to introduce fresh air, add some dry materials if available, and by the next day the smell is usually gone. This compost turner uses a drill method, like Archimedes' screw, to turn into the soil to go into deeper layers and bring up material from the bottom. This can help mix more mature layers with new material to introduce beneficial microbes, reduce compacting, and provide oxygen. All this allows the new material to break down quicker. The T-shaped handle makes a good grip to turn with both hands. The large drill blade glides into the soil easily. I prefer to dig in and pull straight up, then repeat in a new area until everything looks well mixed. The tool is all metal and durable. I wish it were all one piece though. For shipping purposes, it's divided into four parts that need to be screwed together. There is some wiggle between the parts though. Otherwise, I think this tool works more effectively, especially in tight spaces, than using a pitchfork or spade.

Works great!
This tool is so effective at “stirring” the contents of our compost bin. My husband had been using a pitchfork but our container isn’t that large so he didn’t have the room to turn the contents well. He loves this tool. I love this tool.We recommend!

A little tweaking to be a great tool
I was hesitant to purchase this because there were no reviews at the time. But decided to give it a try because of the blades versus spiral wire. Glad I did. When it arrived, I assembled it and found the shaft to be a bit wobbly. Disassembled, added 1 layer of cloth tape around each "male" end, making the connection tighter. Re-assembled, solid feeling tool.In the compost pit, I was able to turn 3 - 4x4 ft pits in less time than it used to take me to turn the stuff by pitchfork in 1 pit. Easy to rotate it into the piles, lifted it straight up, new vegetation fell into hole, dirt and worms fell on top.For the price and convenience, I'd recommend and would by again.

FAULTY AND LOW QUALITY CONSTRUCTION (parts don't fit each other well)
the product dose not match its price with what the product is used for. This is a tool not only was it faulty but it dose not operate will as a tool. tools are not supposed to be loose and have wiggle room. Some thing like this is supposed to sturdy and have a solid shaft. this dose not meet the stander for " Tool for Outdoor", "Strong & Durable". Yes, the parts may be "Strong & Durable" but when the parts are together it is not Strong & Durable because the parts don't fit in the each part properly. (DONT BUY IF YOUA ARE LOOKING FOR QUALITY)

Compost turning tool
This auger like tool works perfect to turn over a garbage can compost pile. You can screw it to the bottom of the can and pull up the compost from the bottom.

Bad design; starting to break
It was not obvious that this comes in multiple pieces and has to be assembled. The shaft itself is multiple pieces that are held together with bolts and wingnuts. Assembly was easy so no issues there. I was up and using it in a few minutes. For a tool that is intended to have force exerted on it the design is full of flaws. The tool being multiple pieces secured by a bolt means those bolts will, over time, have a lot of stress placed on them. I already can see where threads on the bolts are getting damaged from using the tool. The wing nuts are great for hand tightening but that won't mean anything if the threads on the bolt are messed up from use.Next the shaft pieces are not solid and are separating just after a few uses. I was disappointed to see this but not surprised because the design almost certainly meant this would happen. The tool is not useless as this is happening but it will shorten the eventual life. I don't think getting a replacement will change this; it is simply bad design. So even with the design flaws that will limit tool life does it do the job it is designed for? Yes it does. This works well in my compost pile to get down and stir things up. It doesn't necessarily stir them up just by screwing it in, but when it is down in the pile you can pull it up and that churns up that part of the pile and introduces air and mixes up the layers. That is exactly what I got the tool for and it does that. I just don't suspect it will last all that long based on a couple days use and already seeing damage to the tool from that minimal use.
