Good heavy base for steady even slow heat. Don't forget to season the lid
Delighted with this... so much so I bought both small and large.Remember, a tajine is a slow cooker... if with the lid on it's sputtering in use you need to turn it down... the heavy enamelled cast iron base is ideal for this, giving an even, steady heat even if using a ceramic or induction stove that cycles on/off to maintain temperature at low settings (mine doesn't but I've used on another which did and it wasn't a problem.)The lid is a substantial stoneware(?) item, glazed on the outside. I would recommend seasoning the inside before use. Soak in salty water overnight, rinse and soak in clean water another night, airdry, warm in the oven until bone dry, oil (I prefer flax to olive for this, I think it polymerises better) and put back in the oven gradually bringing up to high heat to "cook on" the oil. This last part I did a couple of times. This'll give you an even nut brown water resitant coating _in_ the surface which will make clean up easier and avoid getting uncured oils from cooking in the surface which could turn rancid/attract mould (a fairly common issue.)

Quality Cookware
I was initially cautious about buying this item as the description only stated a size of 28x28x20cm and a 2L capacity. Without physically seeing the actual item, I was confused as to why the volume was 2L whereas other Tagines were of similar size but larger capacity. However, after reading good reviews, I took a punt!Upon arrival, I thought it did look a bit smaller than I hoped which is when I took some measurements. From my many years of working in a cookware/hardware shop, it is generally assumed pan measurements are taken from the inside diameter. The 28cm advertised is actually the outside diameter, thus making it look a little small due to a 1cm lip. After trying a recipe, there was enough capacity for my family of 3 but could do 4 at a push. There was no issues with it working on our induction hob.I've added some measurements to one of Amazon's photos to give a clearer idea of size.

Tagine
Brilliant cooking tool

It's just ok
To expensive for what it offers. It splashes a lot between the plate and lid while cooking. Therefore makes big mess on top of the cooker. My previous tagine was much cheaper and no splashes at all.
