Good sized cat flap
I have two fairly large cats (7kg each) and my previous cat flap was a bit of a tight squeeze for them and eventually the lock (different make) failed which meant other cats could get in.This flap is constructed in much the same way as all cat flaps and has a microchip function so that you can program the flap to recognise your cats and nobody else's. Programming is very simple - just push the button for 5 seconds till it flashes, get your cat to go through it - you will hear the lock click down when it recognises a chip - and then push the button again and your cat is coded into its memory. It is not totally straightforward to instal in a wall which I had to do as you do have to cut a hole through fairly accurately before fitting it. The instruction booklet is not great and useless as regards wall/glass fitting but I found a video clip on You Tube for a different make which pretty much showed what you needed to do. For a wall fitting you will also need one or more extender pieces depending on how thick your wall is and whether it is a cavity wall. Again YouTube comes to the rescue to show you how to add these in. Once fitted - and do use all the screws provided to keep it all together, it works really well and I recommend putting sealant around the edges on the outside piece.

Works well - have to get very close to activate
I have a ginger boy and hes not the sharpest in the box. I used to have a catflap in a wooden door at my old house but only had patio double glazed doors in the new, so had to save up (as need a whole new double glazed unit) so he was used to being let in and out constantly. I got the expensive new panel for the door which has to be specially cut to the specific cat flap. This did need an adapter with it to put in glass due to its shape and only being able to cut round holes. He didnt initially get the hang of it despite having had one for 10 years and just sat at the opposite door staring at me!It seems sturdy, its easy to lock. The only thing is, he is a bit of a wuss and doesnt like putting his head into anything he cant get out of - and this doesnt activate with a click with the microchip until his nose is literally touching the flap door. He's about got used to it, it may be something to do with where the chip is in him, i dont know. But overall its a good cat flap, not cheap not expensive but if you are putting it in glass remember to get the adapter and if its for a wall you need the tunnel adapter. In glass you cant put them too low else it reduces the sturdiness of the glass - so he has to have a step outside.....which is fine and he has decided he will sleep on that now instead of coming in!

Great catflap, shame about the cats...
If only my cats weren't idiots, I'd have given this 5 stars - easy to install, looks good, relatively easy to follow the instructions programming it to recognise the cats... However, my cats don't like opening cat flaps with their heads, they open them at arms' length with their paws. Which means their necks don't get anywhere near the chip sensor so the bleeding thing won't unlock. Have now removed the batteries and they're using it like a normal catflap which is fine but defeats the object of keeping out neighbourhood visitors. Now I just need to figure out how to train the cats to use their heads... Oh god, why me?

A really good cat flap
Our two cats got used to the cat flap pretty quickly. Easy to program once they were encouraged to put their heads into the tunnel part. Remember to program the flap to recognise the chips before you install it in a door! The draught excluder around the flap is very effective at stopping the wind coming into the house. The mechanism responds quickly to the cats' chips. The flap can be set in 4 ways: in only, out only, both ways, and closed. The flap is the right size for our 5kg cats. Measure your cats and the flap before you buy.

Watchout if replacing Sureflap, not the same hole size
For those that are experiencing Sureflap battery consumption problems, you'll know that once they start you'll get through AA cells like they're going out of style, and like me you'll jump ship and buy this one.The pro's:It worked right off the bat (cat microchipped), not particularly noisy, certainly not more so than the Sureflap one.If you believe their sales pitch, it'll work for at least 6 months on a set of batteries maybe up to a year.Familiar controls as to the other similar makes.Slightly tinted window-attractive and easier to keep clean unlike the Sureflap one that was clear and showed marks almost immediately.Price! Cheapest of the chipped automatic units at £59 when boughtThe cons:The method of allowing cats to come in and out without chip activation is ok for me but a bit long-winded for my mother who's 85 should it stop working while we're away and she's feeding the cat, it involves removing batteries, then replacing them-a bit of a faff.If you're coming from a Sureflap, despite the rear shape with its bevelled bottom part of tunnel looking the same, it's NOT.It's taller and slightly wider out the back so be prepared for more door/wall surgery. In all, I'm happier with this model, and it wouldn't have taken long for the other to chew through the cost of this one in batteries (it was going through a set a night or two nights, not uncommon with that other make according to reviews, though it did last four years)I shall update after a year or so.

Perfect for normal cats in a busy cat neighbourhood
Read reviews about setup and noise but found neither to be an issue.Easy to install for someone who’s never done it before <1 hour, and used immediately by two cats going outside for the first time.Programming was straightforward but did involve pressing the cats into the cat flap to register the chips so would benefit from two people and an animal that’s fine being held.Well built and easy to use the locking features.Seems to use the batteries quite quickly unless premium batteries are used.Would definitely recommend for those with neighbourhood cats

Keeps stray cats out and my cat safe.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS DOOR!I waited to write a review until we had time to see how it would work. WE LOVE THIS DOOR! We have had it for several months. We kept it in training mode for quite some time. Our cat is 18lbs. and we didn’t know if it was going to be big enough, but it is. It was easy to set it to recognize her American chip. I was worried we would have to buy the PetMate Collar since it is European made, but that was not necessary. After the death of our last Schnauzer, we began to have stray cats come through the pet door at night roaming through the house. This solved that problem quickly. Gracie can get in and out as she pleases and after a short adjustment to the small size, she is using the door and is secure from other animals getting in. She raced in the other evening, being chases by a mother fox. It locks quickly behind her just as we had hoped it would. One suggestion to the manufacturer. Please consider making a larger door just like this one. We may want another dog at some point, but would never consider one that is not pet selective. We highly recommend this product!

This cat door works!
We have two cats, age 2 and 14, with two different brands of microchips. I was worried that it wouldn’t work or the cats wouldn’t use it. They were used to cat doors, but strays were coming in at night. This was easy to program-you just push the cats through while in learning mode, and that’s it. It works well. They adapted in a few days. There is a slight delay while the cat holds its head at the door before it opens and that’s what they had to get used to. But they learned quickly. I think they like it because they’ve seen strays trying to get in and failing.

Bin mega happy damit. Dankeschön.
