very sturdy and easy to assemble
We love this cabinet very much. The file cabinet is made of a durable engineered wood and has a beautiful finish. It's also very sturdy and well-built. The drawers slide smoothly and easily, and the interlocking safety mechanism ensures that only one drawer can be open at a time. This is also very stylish. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new file cabinet.

Durable & Sturdy
I recently ordered the lateral file in mango wood. This must be completely assembled but the instructions are easy to follow. The metal has solid welds. The whole piece is sturdy. The wood color is nice. I do wish the top was black to match the base but it isn't the worst. Feels sturdy and durable.

10 stars
Assembly took a minute but the directions were easy to read , i am using it for a quality nightstand but the divider inserts suggest a really nice file cabinet or whatever your needs would be . I love the way the drawers glide out with ease , they don’t catch and don’t feel cheap or easy to break , this is definitely one of the nicer furniture pieces I have received off amazon . It feels sturdy and looks extremely nice . Came with extra parts and all the tools , I did grab my drill to kind of speed it along .

Looks great but needs an anti tip bracket when on carpet
This unit looks really good once put together. It took me about 3 to 3 1/2 hours to do this by myself. And that was with taking a few breaks. There was one little chip in the back of a drawer, but other than that everything was intact. That chip can’t be seen after being put together, so it didn’t really matter. There are just a couple issues that I have with this. The guides for lateral files, if you’re going to use this as a lateral file cabinet, are made of plastic, and l expect they will fail over time. This is the only plastic on the whole unit. The other issue is that when this is placed on carpet and you pull on the drawer, it rocks forward. If you’re not careful, this could actually tip. There should be an included anti-tip bracket included with this, but there’s not so you might want to invest in one, especially if you have kids. They are pretty inexpensive. Not sure how it would be on a hard floor.I am not using this as a lateral file. I’m actually using this to store towels and linens. I have a nice little corner in my upstairs hallway where I put this and it looks really good there. The current price of $102.00 makes this a steal.

Long and Enduring Process
I feel like I should start with the good qualities of this dresser. Everything is EXTREMELY precise. There really wasn't any margin of error and the instructions were very well detailed to the point you could tell which side a blank piece of wood was. The wood is very sturdy as well. It truly feels like something you would see at a furniture store for more $ but I think it's putting it together that brought the value down for me. I did it alone with my minimal carpentry skills and ended up having to pull out my drill on a few occasions. Again, everything fits amazingly well, it's just a long process to get everything in there. It took a majority of my Saturday, 4-5 hours, but if you were to build another one right after you could easily shave off a half hour, but you really only need to make it once haha. The reason for another star going down though is due to one piece being an absolute pain to work. To the point, I can't tell if it's my error or just a faulty part. It's the metal piece that goes inside of the box and hugs the side wall which would lock the dressers in place. I pulled it in/out multiple times and made sure it was oiled properly to open/close but as soon as I put the drawer in it always got stuck. I just decided to take that piece out entirely as the drawers still work without it.From a quality standpoint, this is an awesome deal and works amazingly. It was definitely the setup and that one piece that really deterred me from rating it higher.

Incredibly precise. Time to get organized.
Let me start off by saying it took me between 4 to 5 hours to assemble this. Three quarters of the way through when frustration was kicking in, I turned the page on the instruction manual, and it said, "Time to refresh your drink". :-) Well at least we knew they had a sense of humor. I didn't finish it all in one shot. I woke up the next morning and did that last half hour. I was meticulous in following the superbly illustrated drawings and instructions. There was no doubt about position etc. because the illustrations even went to the bother of showing you where the tiny starter hole patterns were. The only mistake I made was installing the sides on the drawers, you have to put the predrilled dowel holes toward the front. I had them aiming towards the back, and they even put a warning message in there at that point of assembly by I did not understand it correctly. No big deal. It took about a minute and a half to loosen the screws on each end and swap them around. Now when I say incredibly precise, I mean it. For example, the end result, the gaps around the front are one of the most precise I have found on any piece of furniture. They must have used CNC machines to fabricate the insertion holes which is a machine that is accurate to within a thousandth of an inch. My suggestion is DO NOT use a power drill to assemble this. For example, the metal drawer slides are installed into the sides of the box by placing the screws in the little tiny indents that are about a sixteenth of an inch deep, just enough to show you where they are but not deeper so as to insure a super strong bite into the "wood". If they predrilled them, they wouldn't be as secure as if you do it by taking the screw, and a phillips head screw driver, and forcing it into the wood. We’re talking serious security in the attachment here.Okay, to come down to earth because I feel like I just had a baby, and went through the birthing process only to be overjoyed at the arrival. So, what is this filing cabinet really. It is not solid wood, but in at least on regard it is better than that. Solid wood is subject to humidity changes, and this is made out of wood particles fused in with a glue, or epoxy making a very strong binding, and then veneered with a waterproof wood look alike that is actually very attractive. The whole darn thing is beautiful. The white top, and the dark black accent handles is gorgeous. The stand at the bottom sets it off even more but I didn't use that, and you don't have to, because I wanted to put this under my desk and it works great. My office is always a mess because I don't have enough space to put everything. Now I will, and I am adding a second filing style cabinet that has a single up and down set of drawers instead of being dual wide like this one, making this one has twice the amount of space, and I paid the same money for both of them. I wanted to get another one of these but I only have space for a single at this point. I checked to see if they had something similar in a single wide, but I didn't see anything, other than something that wasn't anywhere near as attractive as this one. (Personal taste I know)Now to get critical, and this isn't really a flaw, but rather a preference, I really would love it if it had the soft close feature. You know, you push it pretty much closed, and it draws in the last inch or so softly. Those drawer glides that are soft close are rather expensive, and I don't plan on going through the research to find just the right ones. It's an engineering challenge to find just the right one; I love the chest just the way it is. You do have to give it that one final push to click it all the way closed.I knew if I ordered a second one of these, you could easily cut the installation time in half. I didn't want to screw it up, so I took my time, and made sure I completely understood the task at hand. Love this thing. Finally going to get all of the wires across the floor hidden. Being organized feels great.
