I bought this style of leash based on the recommendations of the dog training club where I took classes with my German Shepherd. It's a beautifully-made item but I don't actually use it as much as I though I would. The leather is too stiff and the circumference is quite small so I have a hard time holding the leash at the position I want especially if my dog starts to pull while walking. It slides through my fingers and I have to constantly reposition my grip on it. The leash I mostly use now is a thick fabric that is soft and flexible so it won't give you a friction burn if your dog suddenly yanks on it (such as when a squirrel suddenly runs right by). Although this leash looks elegant and professional it just isn't easy to hold on to unless you have a perfectly behaved and/or older dog.

I like leather leads for their durability. Most stretch and crack over time. A rolled leather lead doesn’t stretch. The 3 foot length is perfect for walking around the neighborhood.

I ordered this lead because it was the best deal I could find on Amazon. The lead is made of a decent leather that seems to hold together well. I have used it for one month now in dog obedience school, and it has help up. I would note the brass clip is rather cheap and hard to get onto the dogs collar. Overall, I would order this brand again.

Absolutely gorgeous and well crafted leash. Unfortunately, it was made for much larger dogs and the heavy clip would have been way to big for my medium sized dogs. I'd highly recommend this leash for large GSD, Labradors, large herding and working breeds of dogs. It is the quality of leash that you will use for many, many years...unless your dog decides to use it as a chew toy, as mine would, given the chance. :)

Pretty good. Only downside is anything it brushes against will blemish the leather. But overall nice looking and sturdy.

One of the brass rivets around the handle separated. I've used this leash for an 5 hours in a dog conditioning class. I know it's 5 hours because we've had 5 classes. Handle isn't really used at all during class. Disappointed with the product.

Extremely happy with this lead. Lovely quality leather and brassware. Very well put together and looks and feels like a premium product. I’d recommend this without hesitation.
