Saves Time and Your Mind
I would've written this book if I could've. That's how much I like it.I teach middle school students with multiple handicaps. And I loath worksheets. And I want my activities rooted in real-world skills. And I like playing games. This book does exactly that: keeps it real and keeps it fun. I wish I would've found this book the minute it was published. In short, you MUST buy this book. The topics and lessons are, if nothing else, great jumping-off points. I've been able to improve a few of the games. And very few of the lessons (namely identifying number patterns) are a miss and not worth doing.AND there's an assessment chapter. Assessments using games and real-life skills. Imagine that! Assessing students on real activities! Who woulda' thought. So worth the money. Buy it now.

Our Resource Teacher Approves
Honestly, I haven't personally used the book but gave it to my daughter's resource teacher. She looked it over and found the money section very good. She said the system the school used wasn't working for her so she is now going to use the books system. She said it is a very good book. I am going to buy another book for her, because my daughter will be moving to the middle school next year and taking this book with her. I would like to give her current resource teacher a copy for her to keep and use with future students.

It is incredibly useful and insightful
I wish I had this book when I was working on my teaching degree. It is incredibly useful and insightful. The lessons are great, but what I really love is the philosophy of teaching that comes through in every line. I have purchased multiple copies of this book for myself and my son's teachers at school.

See my review for Book 2
This set of books is very helpful for teachers who work with students who have Autism, Down Syndrome, TBI or anything that impairs abstract thinking. It is a little work setting up and laminating the activities and it took awhile for me to organize it all so I can pull what I need when I need it.

Excellent book if you have a child in your life with Down Syndrome.
I am a grandmother to a child with Down Syndrome. He is an amazing child, and in first grade. We wanted to read more about supporting him in Math so ordered this. Not only did we learn great math concepts, we also learned about how Down children react to solving math problems. It also includes good examples.

Great addition to our homeschooling curriculum!
I am very happy that I purchased this book. My daughter does not have Down's, but she is hard of hearing and has Auditory Processing type issues. She is a very visual, hand's on type of learner and this book has been a tremendous help in teaching her math and general survival skills. It is worth every penny and has given me a wealth of information. I highly, highly reccomend this book!

Working with Adults with Down Syndromes that have Math problems ...
Working with Adults with Down Syndromes that have Math problems, I am using this to further their teaching. Some of the methods I used with my son. I coordinated numbers using colors and people in the family to help him. Now, figuring out money for 50/50 draws is what he does well.
