I didn’t want a huge bar across my steering wheel so chose this mainly as a deterrent,initially it was quite fiddly to unlock (easy to lock)but after working it out it’s good ,the bright cover is perhaps a time waster for a thief

The media could not be loaded. I'm gong to review this steering lock for what it is, a 'deterrent', an easy to install device that will deter any opportunist from trying to steal your car. Let's be honest, if they are intent on stealing your car, this device won't stop them.Installation is very straightforward, if you have ever used a cable bike lock, then this is just as easy.The locking mechanism is quite clever in its simplicity, as you can see from the attached photo, the lock fits into and over the seat belt insert, thus making it impossible to eject the lock.To release the lock, you simply insert one of the three supplied keys, push down on the key, and this in turns pushes a pin down onto the seatbelt release button.. very simple.The cable itself is flexible, yet feels sturdy enough as to withstand any simple attempt to break it, and the bright yellow sheath, adds protection around the steering wheel, whilst also being highly visible from outside the vehicle.As a standalone anti-theft device, it wouldn't have made many stars, but take it for what it is, and easy to install, highly visual deterrent that will add an extra level of complexity for any would be thief.

Easy to use and remove. Seems sturdy enough for the intended use.

This is a relatively low cost deterrence for car theft, easy to install and small, lightweight enough to carry around.The design to use the safety belt buckle is quite unique, but the length of the cable should be made longer to accommodate seats that are moved further back. It may be a cost-cutting thing for the manufacturer to minimise material use, but in terms of ergonomics it is not user-friendly if a driver needs to frequently adjust the seat position in order to use this device, before and after each trip.As a visual deterrent this device does it's job, but as in most security devices there would still be ways for determined/experienced criminals to get round it. e.g. by use of a grinder cutter they could have cut through the cable anyway.However I think it would still need quite a while for a criminal to get past this layer of security, so in a way it still serves some purpose in delaying any attempts of theft.

The lock works by pushing a steel rod onto the release button on the seat belt, so it is quite a simple method to unlock it from the seat belt.I must admit to having felt some trepidation in case it wouldn’t unlock, but it worked okay after a few initial tests to make sure I understood how it worked. I originally found the whole key unlock a bit tricky to start with, but after using it for a few weeks it was very easy to unlock. The cable is covered by a plastic sheath and there is a looser yellow sheath to give more protection to avoid damaging your steering wheel.It is certainly highly visible and it does work. The keys feel a little flimsy but they work perfectly well and because you draw the key straight out of the lock, you shouldn’t bend it. You also get 4 keys. A brief search on Amazon and found an identical looking one in red for £4 less and it had pretty mixed reviews.4 stars from me due to price only. It is a lot of money for an added deterrent as most cars have factory fitted immobilisers nowadays, but if you have an older vehicle without one, then it might be worth considering.UPDATE: My original review was sceptical about the locking mechanism and ease of use, but following several week’s worth of use, I have updated my review to show this and removed the negative comments, apart from the price.

I’m a little new to the world of car security, I didn’t know there are wheel locks like this that connect to the seatbelt. It seems really easy to use. I love the vibrant colour of the lock, it’s easy to see from afar which must surely put people off straight away. I think if someone is going to pinch your car then they probably know what they’re doing and can get through anything but for an amateur opportunist this is surely enough to make them keep walking. Thankfully it comes with 3 keys, one for each of us and one to go with the spare keys just in case! Overall I think this is a great product and if you are in the market for some additional car security I would highly recommend this.
