This will take a bit of getting used to particularly if, like me, you have no previous experience of hearing aids. After fully charging the device, which took around an hour as it was already partially charged, I found it best to use this in my left ear as the volume control wheel is not central but on the left side which makes it less accessible when used in the other ear. There was a bit of lag or echo in the sound from the tv so volumes needed adjusting accordingly. There is a selector switch for high or low frequency but to be honest I didn’t notice a lot of difference in either. One thing I did find is that it magnifies ALL sound including scratching and tapping noises when the aid is touched as the microphone will obviously magnify those sounds which can be startlingly loud. This does limit how much movement you can do when wearing it. Noise-cancelling devices use the built-in microphone and produce the opposite reversed sound waves to neutralise surrounding noise. This is really only successful on low frequency noises such as road or rail vehicles and has much less if any effect on the higher frequencies. Overall this is effective in bringing sounds closer to the ear drum but as I say will take a while to become accustomed to it. The £49 price tag is worth it if it alleviates the misery of unintelligle conversations and muffled entertainment so it is probably worth persevering with it.

Good quality for the price and comfortable to wear, my grandpa had trouble hearing and this has been a blessing for him, it helps with hearing without constantly saying what or asking everyone to repeat things also no longer yelling!
