Got this for fitting onto our 40MM gas masks. We live in an area prone to lots of wild fires. This is what I'd consider a decent budget option. Something for when you plan to be doing painting or something not high risk and planned out. For more 'risk' situations we keep filters by the M brand here on the site stocked up. These do claim a longer shelf life but I'm okay with it. These are 1/3 the cost though so for lower risk situations these have their place. The filter was packed well, and threaded onto my wife's gas mask without issue.

I got to try this filter out last week when doing some remodeling on an older house. Overall, the filter worked great and kept out all the junk I didn’t want to be breathing in. Far better than any dust mask I have used. Air flow was good and fit well to my respirator. If you have a gas mask / respirator with a 40mm port, this is definitely seems to be the way to go with filtering out particulates. Price is excellent on this filter too.

This is a nice NBC filter! It's a standard filter for most situations. Not a certified CBRN filter. It fits on any 40mm threaded mask.

I had no idea that this type of canister could come undone accidentally. When I tried to remove it from the respirator the two halves of the canister came loose. It didn't initially come all the way, and some of the carbon got in the way of screwing it back down. So I wasn't able to put it back together in a way that I was confident would work properly. I don't know how tightly it has to be packed, and I don't know how much. Having some of the carbon having fallen on the floor and being unrecoverable makes a difference.I have no idea if the construction of this filter is typical. It is two flimsy particulate filters at either end and a lot of cylindrical carbon particles. It has a lot more carbon than smaller filters. But I don't know how well it works because since it came apart so easily come I don't feel like I can count on it 100% to protect me. They might be good normally. But this one, not so much.This is not a NIOSH approved filter, so I don't have good reason to trust it.

This filter is on par with what I expected. It fit right onto my mask and sealed correctly. I wore it during a heavy cleaning session with a ton of bleach, and I could not smell the bleach - so it works.

This is a decent quality filter, appears a bit cheaply made but nothing obviously wrong with it. It works fine with my mask and I can tell it is filtering the air. It is activated carbon which is pretty hard to mess up so as long as it doesn't come apart (mine hasn't) it should be just fine.
