A powerful gaming laptop
Have had it for a few months now and thought I'd write my review. I love this laptop, it has had no issues running any game I've tried and can even run them at maxed out settings at 120fps. Don't look at some of the other people's reviews when they say you can't customize the colors of the keyboard because you can. I guess they just didn't figure it out, also you can set the laptop to silent mode when not gaming and it's very quite. However when you do ramp it up to turbo mode for gaming the fans can get loud, which I can understand cause they need to keep the internals cool (you wouldn't want your gpu or cpu to overheat) but with any gaming headset on you can't even hear them.Like I said every game I've tried on the laptop it has run it flawlessly, so if you're wondering about its specs for gaming this laptop is good to go.The battery life is kinda short, which doesn't bother me cause if im going to be gaming it's going to be plugged in. For soft uses on the go it should be good. The track-pad feels nice but I can't really give a review on it because the entire time I've had this laptop I've used a plugged in mouse. From the few times I've used it (laying in bed or whatnot), it felt like a normal track-pad no complaints. If you do get this laptop or already have it, use the built in app "Armoury Crate". It's where you go to control the lights on your keyboard or anything like that. Even use it to set the laptop to silent, performance or turbo mode.

Defective wireless network access card
These Asus tiff books are known for having wifi that drops out for no reason all the time. It started occasionally for me and was fixed with a reset. Now I’m resetting my Ip4 DNS daily for a couple minutes of intervener use at a time. Even that doesn’t work anymore.Still works for games but the internet issue makes it kinda useless. Check your model before you buy for internet /wifi issues. Better yet. Build your own desktop.

I paid so much and it's borked
I put a lot of money into buying this computer and wow it is fantastic for gaming, the battery life on it is abysmal. The battery died two months after getting the computer, and now I'm having issues between the battery and windows, which is causing my computer to just lock up and turn off. I spent almost three grand on this thing and honestly I am so distraught. I don't think I would recommend this product, and that is a shame because I really wanted to like it, what a waste.

I'm regretting this purchase as time goes on
Given the price I paid for this laptop, I'm extremely disappointed by the hardware and the overall performance. The laptop came with a screen that was bleeding light badly at its bottom edges (resulting from a terrible case design that puts pressure on the screen when the case is closed), something that is getting worse as the laptop gets more use and will undoubtedly necessitate an RMA at some point in the future. For the price that this laptop is going for, you'd think ASUS wouldn't hesitate to use a higher-quality screen, but of course that's not the case. Come on guys, IPS panels aren't that expensive to implement these days; TN tech sucks and shouldn't be included in a "gaming" laptop at all. The edge bleeding is prominent enough that I don't bother using the screen for gaming and instead hook the laptop up to a 4K tv for my video game needs. The screws used to keep the case together are already stripped after a simple SSD install on my part, despite the fact that I used an appropriately-sized screwdriver to do the work. I'm guessing that this is another issue that will require an RMA.As far as the rest of the hardware is concerned, I haven't had any problems worth mentioning. Overall, the laptop seems well-built, although the case gets unbelievably hot if I'm running anything more complex than Edge or MS Excel. The pre-installed ASUS software is unimpressive. Armory Crate profiles tend to not load at times, and MyASUS is a complete pain to use when trying to sort through available updates -- for example, it will show various versions of the BIOS but it doesn't bother telling you which one you have installed. The touchpad has mysteriously shut down multiple times, forcing me to re-enable it manually. The laptop won't detect headphones when they are plugged in, which means you have to dig into the crappy Realtek software to mess around with settings in order to get them to work. The battery time just plain sucks, giving me around 1.5 hours during regular (non-gaming) use. Worst of all, the laptop has refused to power up on two occasions, necessitating a hard reset. When it comes to video game performance, I'm not impressed. While I can usually get 60FPS on games like Doom Eternal, Borderlands 3, Division 2, and Watch Dogs 2, playback is wildly inconsistent and can vary mysteriously from day to day, no matter what the game is or how technically (un)complex it might be. Borderlands 3 and Division 2, for example, normally run quite well at 60FPS, but there are times when they can't even manage 15FPS. I suspect this is a problem being caused by how the laptop implements fan control and software profiles through Armory Crate. Honestly, I'd be fine with middling performance if it was just consistent and not jumping all over the place, but alas that's just not the case.I'm not too happy with the price/performance ratio this laptop gets me, especially considering the crappy TN screen and inconsistent gaming results. I don't think my next laptop is going to be an ASUS.EDIT 6/2021: Not only has the screen bleeding gotten worse but the wireless LAN chip has died, meaning I have to spend money to buy a replacement card since the warranty for this crappy laptop ended just last month. I'm never buying another ASUS product again.

Wifi Card fried. Wasted a lot of time.
Yea, realtek wificard busted and it took me a long time to figure out the diagnosis. If you are willing to buy a new wifi card and void your warranty, then its a good computer for the price.

Motherboard didn't last a whole year
My daughter used this laptop for less than a year and the motherboard has already given out on itself. She was playing Maplestory when her screen glitched out and froze, and after that, she tried to restart the computer and was met with a black screen while the computer itself was on. Nothing she did was working, so I had the laptop get checked out and the motherboard had been fried. She had the laptop since January but barely used it to play games until late May because she was busy with classes. The games she primarily played were Killing Floor 2, Maplestory, and Terraria/Tmodloader. Outside of Killing Floor 2, the other games were not too intensive on the laptop, but the laptop couldn't sustain itself with those games alone. And now the laptop no longer works. Would not recommend.
