Caught a cat perfectly
I bought this to catch a feral cat who would let me feed him but not get close enough to touch him. He took up residence under a shipping container. Trapping him wasn't an option since I have five other cats who would interfere. He stayed thin after many weeks so I needed to apply a topical flea/tick/worm killer on him. When he was within six feet or so, I put the net over him. He jumped around but the rubber net was strong as I held the pole to the ground. I was then able to clamp down on his neck without fear because the net is quite thick. The net has holes large enough for me to expose the back of his neck where I applied the topical. That was two weeks ago. He seems less afraid of me now since I caught him and let him go. I can almost boop/touch his nose as he looks out from under the container.

Works Well in my Koi Pond
Occasionally one of the Koi fish succumbs to a problem. In the past I have used to use two smaller nylon nets to help remove a fish that died. But both were needed due to the size and weight of the fish. Recently one of my old nets broke due to the age of the netting. These Koi are well over 22 inches long, and are heavy. One of the 15 year old fish recently developed a problem and I was treating the water to help it survive. But I knew I would need a new net to help reach the bottom of the pond if the fish died. No sooner than this Wakeman Fishing Retractor landing net arrived, the fish in trouble was motionless at the bottom of the pond. Fearing it had parasites, I used the remaining old net to maneuver the non-moving fish through some rocks, and into the large opening of the Wakeman rubber net. Much easier than trying to use two smaller nets to do the extraction. The new net is sturdy and I was easily able to remove the fish.

Heavy...
Reasonably well made net but heavy. I like the nylon nets better... they are much lighter and probably more durable. I will not be buying one of these again. I may go ahead and replace the net with: "Dovesun Fishing Net Fish Landing Net Foldable Fishing Replacement Net".

Great value. I would buy again.
I needed a net and after searching I chose this net due to previous reviews. After about a month and 20-30 uses I decided to share my experience here. I have netted and brought in striper and cats up to 25lbs using the handle no problems.Last night (June 20th) I finally got to test the net with a 40lb blue cat here in North Carolina. My friend was netting for me and once in the net brought it to the boat. Neither of us thought we could get the cat in using the handle so we grabbed the edges and hauled it over the side of the skiff. The net held. We had both thought the 35" cat wouldn't fit in the net at first and it did! then it held as we brought it into the boat.Plus the benefit of the rubber netting so that hooks do not catch is a bonus. Much bigger of a fish I would have used a gaf but I wanted to test the net for when I am fishing alone.Buy this. Its durable and worth it. If the net broke on the 40lb cat I would have bought another one this morning.

Great little net
There is a great problem when you are looking for a net for Kayaking. It needs to be small enough but big enough for the fish you plan to catch. In the attached photo, there are Northern Pike in those waters, that fight you and need enough room to land in - while not killing themselves. For such aggressive looking fish, they sure are fragile.I am pleased with this net. It's fairly lightweight. I packed it on top of a duffle bag I had and it fit perfectly. Then, I moved it to the Kayak and left it with the watercraft for the rest of the trip until it was time to pack up. As you can see in the photo, I just tucked it under the deck lines and grabbed it when it was time to land a fish. I also used the handly clip that it comes with to make sure that if it goes over (or more likely, I do), it'll stay with the kayak and my investment will be saved.I love the rubber netting too. It helps lures to not get too tangled (or pierce the stupid netting - I'm looking at you, woven nets) and it keeps things pretty clean. Easy on the fish, easy to handle and easy to maintain. Thumbs up!

1 1/2 Years of Hard Use- Banged Around On Shore- Still Works Great
I ordered this net in October of 2019. I fish like 2 to 3 times a week. It has been banged around on rocky shores, netted countless hundreds of walleye, bass, wiper and and even a few catfish over 20 lbs. I am very pleased. I was actually trying to find this purchase to recommend this net to a friend, and found I had never written a review. It definitely deserves one! This is the ideal net for walleye if you are fishing jerkbaits or cranks and want to quickly and easily remove a lot of hooks from your net. I have found this net is not great with pike or musky that like to twist up in it. Absolutely perfect for walleye, though. And it works great for catfish up to 30 lbs. too.

Don't expect to catch a fish that is more than a few pounds! Net is nice, pole is not!
Went on a fishing trip, thought this net was very nice, but did not expect the pole to break so fast. You cannot catch a fish over a few pounds or the pole will bend. The net is nice, but the pole needs to be sturdy enough to hold your catch.

Great net for the price
This net has been a great replacement for our wire out, much more expensive nets. It is a quality product, has plenty of reach and a good size bucket for grabbing fish on the side of our bass boat. Very nice net material, doesn’t hold fish slime or hooks like other net material. It is not super compact, nor does it have the ability to adjust handle length, but for the price, that is not a fair deterrent.

Excellent choice
I haven’t had the chance to use it. The fishing season just started. However, the product shipped is as described and is well finished. I’m glad I made the purchase and look forward to putting it to good use
