Splatoon, Vol. 2 (2)

Taking out S ranks
Must read previous volumes before this one. This volume concludes the story arc against the S4 Team Blue fights against Mask and SkullThere's a training montage and new skill ability (not in game) the team learnsSide story involves team blue against of team that uses only blasters==Now onto impression of the manga series as a whole (up to volume 4).Book reads from right to left.In black and white. No color except for front and back cover. Very disappointing since the game has huge emphasis on color (due to ink). Instead, a lot of exposition is involved in stating colors and names (some inklings look the same with exception of clothes). Art work in general is very good, not as great as the 2D promo art for the game, but decent enough that it makes for a enjoyable read.Character names are simple and based off of what they wear to better distinguish them from one another since some inklings look the same and the fact that there's no color panelsVery basic in terms of explaining game mechanics. Focuses more on characters and comic relief.Manga has unorthodox ways of winning matches. Similar to how the Pokemon anime vs game where Ash tells his pokemon to do a move that not even possible in game.Pokemon example:Tells Pikachu to grab onto Onix's head and use thunderbolt as if it's a lighting rod, or ask Bulbasaur to vine whip a side of a mountain to create an avalanche to make a distraction, making the opponent's pokemon to look the other way then tell Bulbasaur to use razor leaf followed by tackle to finish it off when the opponent's pokmeon isn't looking.Anyway back to Splatoon. Some examples of this in the manga series are:-Riding on a point brush, while using a splattershot-Dodge seeker bombs between legs-Throw teammates while in a bubble shield at opponents-Use food as distractionManga does not focus on a epic quest to save the world like in the main campaign of the video games. Focus is more on characters and matches with the moral of the story being friendships and having fun vs being serious and competitive. There are some reoccurring themes in the manga like showing off main protagonist (Googles) always snacks on pickled plums, how he like to pull down inklings pants. There are some nudity in the manga, but it's censored by splatoon logo and done so in a comic fashionFormat in most volume include: 3-4 story chapters, 1 prequel or filler and an almanac on newly introduced charactersSummary of volumes I've read:Volume 1:Intro to main group, S4 and world buildingVolume 2:Continuation of S4 rivalry. End of story ArcVolume 3:Boss battle battle with main villain Splatoon 1 (game)New fashion/weapons.Intro to Splatoon 2Prelims of new tournamentVolume 4:Build up to semi finals.Go into the formidable Emperor characterCrusty Sean shop/exploration of Inkopolis Square

... review from volume #1 as well -- if you like the first you'll like this too
This is my review from volume #1 as well -- if you like the first you'll like this too! But 100% by vol #1 first!!!!!My niece is obsessed with Splatoon, so I get her everything i see when it comes out in North America from calendars to Amiibos, (not a lot of great Splatoon merch gets made sadly, and its our favorite Nintendo property!). So when I saw these books I took a chance! She loved volume #1, so i ordered #2, and now she likes it so much I'm stuck pre-ordering the new volumes until they stop making them ha-ha. She likes the manga style, and has read them each like 4 times. If you're a Splatoon fan - its perfect.

Better than the original
Continues Team Blue's attempts to beat the best players of Splatoon. Without saying any spoilers: the comedy doesn't depend on the same gag anymore, the characters develop a bit, and the turf wars play out more strategically. The writer clearly improved on everything overall, and my little brother (and myself if I'm being honest) enjoyed it all the more for it.

It's Not Really For Me...
Though it's not really for me, I can appreciate it. As an older teen, I find this too silly sometimes. I also wish this manga would have more lore of Splatoon. I thought I was going to learn more about the squids and their world, but it's more about our few characters fighting turf wars with enemies and the fact that the protagonist's team wins in some bizarre way.

Still funny.
This is primarily a gag manga, but it does have an ongoing plot. I feel like they ramped things up pretty well in this volume and they calmed down on the one running joke that I didn't like from Volume one.

Fun comic!
Great comic book (more like a small novel in pages actually) of the splatoon series. It’s been translated from the Japanese originals so the book and comic panels read from right to left. Have to get used to that at first. The art inside is not in colour at all, so it’s printed in greyscale tones and on somewhat sandy paper. The cover is quite nice though, printed in bright colours and thick shiny paper. If you’re a fan of the series, give these a go.

Happy Grandsons
Purchased Volumes 1 and 2 for my 10 and 7 year old grandsons. They love anything Splatoon. A bit worried they might not like reading right to left as some Japanese cartoonists still prefer, but they had no problems. Loved the 2nd volume as much as the first and cannot wait for No. 3 to arrive.

Splatoon Manga
Excelente, me ahorra tener que andarlos buscando, además el precio es económico a comparación de algunas tiendas que lo venden físicamente en México.
