The Corporation [DVD] [2006]

Wake Up Call
I'm so glad I bought this DVD and within the space of a few weeks I've watched it several times. It really breaks down which businesses are corporation, how they work and their total disregard and compassion for anyone except the people at the top. The film is broken down into chapters dealing with different issues which makes it easy to digest and navigate. The delivery of information makes it easy to take notes and websurf for further information on the subject. If you work for a corporation or a company which runs like a corporation this may be hard to digest but with all the recent job cuts, banking crisis and people losing their homes, it really is time to wake up and re-acess your life and this is a great aid for that.

mind bending!
I read the book and gasped all the way through, I then watched the DVD and gasped all the way through. What stuns me is that all this information about the scandalous characteristics and actions of big corporations is out there in the public domain!! It's totally legal to possess and distribute this information and yet it describes a realm of activity which, if substantially undermined by us as consumers (i.e. stop buying so much useless, shiny, expensive, fast, big... insert ideal product characteristic here... stuff!) would lead to a genuine positive change in our lives and on the environment and ultimately the demise of these ridiculous psychopathic behemoths we call corporations.

A must see documentary for all sociology and business undergrads
Simply a very good analysis of corporatism and how it influences all our lives. On a par with fantastic and mind altering work seen in TV documentaries like:* 5 Steps to Tyranny (BBC) - sadly never on DVD* The Century of the Self - Adam Curtis Book UK Century of the Self but DVD US* The Trap: 'WHat Happened to Our Dreams of Freedom' - Adam Curtis Amazon US only DVD* The Power of Nightmares - Adam Curtis Amazon US only DVDWorth seeing also: The War On Democracy [DVD] [2007 ]

Still Interesting
This film (and book) does, I think, explain a lot of what's gone wrong with capitalism. Though I am not in favour of ideological politics in any form. Just common sense is needed. Fairness, in order to keep things healthy. I read the book a few years ago, then saw the film. Now I got the film again to remind myself. It is still good, but now we need to move on to simply running things in a way that works. We now know the problems - mindless materialism - it's time for solutions, which for me is as follows: raise the minimum wage, which makes unattractive jobs much more attractive; puts money back into the system; people buy things, govt. gets some more tax, and the system rolls on well. It is only the hoarding which is causing probs, I believe. That is extreme capitalism. Anything extreme is usually too much. So I give the film 4 stars because it revealed the way it was/is. But now we need a sensible solution.

Essential documentary
I watched it many years ago, and it is still very relevant for understanding about how our economy and politics work. I am glad I got to watch it again and share with friends

Outdated in 2016
Most films and books are subjective. Although informative I found the information a bit out dated now in 2016. The general theme of how bad the West is and how exploited everyone else is, is a bit tiresome. 2 stars = I didn't like it.

a wake up call
This is a documentary of the utmost importance, created by those with insights. Watching it had me riveted and I need to review it frequently. The only driving force for big corporations seem to be profit - no matter how it's packaged. If you think you're too much of a believer in conspirations - think again, it might be true.... highly recommended for those who want more than simple entertainment.
