There's a Tiger on the Train

A Modern Classic
What a wonderful story, with an incredibly catchy refrain, about a young boy on a train trip to the seaside, and the wonderful guests who share his journey. The author has managed to combine an aspect of modern family life (parent on a mobile phone), with the sense of a book that already feels like a classic, as if you've always known the story. The illustrations are beautiful, and there's a gentle reminder of the importance of enjoying and engaging with the world around you. After all, you never know what delights you might see, including a tiger in a bowler hat that gets on the train.

Instant classic
My 4 year old son has asked for this to be read again and again! Very readable and catchy. Loved the message about phones (I’m guilty of that I’m sorry to say!) And the illustrations are beautiful.

A joyful adventure that children will love!
This is a charming first book from Mariesa and I have been delighted to buy copies for the young children of family and friends - all of whom have enjoyed this story. The concept is lighthearted and adventurous with funny twists and turns, and the wonderful illustrations are the perfect match. A fun read and a fantastic debut - I can’t wait to see what she publishes next. Highly recommended!

Fabulous Story
Loved this story as it relates to a very relatable experience. The very real experience of sometimes missing moments with your child whilst prioritising your phone. It has a subtle moral to be ‘present’ in the moment. I love how the child has the most amazing imagination and how the story flows leaving you with a thought provoking ending. My 6 and 9 year old loved it!

Superb!
This adorable and adept debut picture book (written by Mariesa Dulak) does a rare thing— it feels simultaneously both very contemporary and also very classic. The story — about a little boy, whose daddy is so deeply involved with his mobile phone that he doesn’t notice what is happening around him— is no doubt one that many families will be able to relate to. I love a good refrain, and the changing-yet-familiar one in this ticks all the right boxes. The illustrations (by Rebecca Cobb) are stunning. This is a pitch-perfect picture book; a real gem.
