ALTRA Men's AL0A4VQE Lone Peak 5 Trail Running Shoe

The Lone Peak 5 is the best iteration of the Lone Peak line yet. I originally got on the Lone Peak train because I love hiking, but after feeling how comfortable they were, I started wearing them as work shoes as well, and it was a game changer! This is the only shoe I can be on my feet all day and not have my toes go numb. In fact, my feet still feel great after an 8 hour shift at work. Hiking with them is a breeze. I almost forget I'm wearing shoes. The toe box works exactly as it should, allowing my toes to spread naturally with every step.The Lone Peak 5 has made some improvements over the 4.5 and other previous iterations. The 4.5 introduced an angled shape on the back of the shoe that wasn't part of the 4's original shape. It would rub on the back of my ankle/Achilles tendon like crazy. I'm happy to announce that the 5's reverted back to the comfortable shape, so that's no longer an issue. Additionally the new EGO midsole provides noticeably more cushion and shock absorption during each step over previous versions. The overall construction appears to be a bit more durable as well.If you're new to Lone Peaks, the key things I love about this shoe are 1) the wide toe box, for superb comfort 2) the ultra light weight, which allows you to hike more efficiently and cover more ground, 3) the MaxTrac outsoles that provide incredible traction on trails, and 4) the removable insoles, which you can replace with custom insoles for an even greater experience (I swear by these with Dr. Scholl's work insoles for when I'm at work).As a diabetic, I'm very grateful to Altra for making a show like these. My feet have never felt better, and I sleep well at night knowing these are helping me avoid foot injuries with every step.Lastly, I normally wear a size 8 sneaker. The reviews I read originally said to go a half size up, and I would have to agree, especially if you're wearing thick socks. I've been using 8.5's, and they fit perfectly.

I’m a user of the LP4s, which became my all time favorite shoes. These LP5s are very similar. The toe box is slightly narrower, but it still feels roomy. Overall these feel a little less flexible / more durable. But very similar to the LP4.For comparison, I was a long time die-hard Nike fan, for 30 years. (It’s the only brand I wore. I only changed when they recently started getting Woke / political a few years back.) I explored a few brands and found the LP4s, then fell in love.These LP5s are much more comfortable than any other shoes I’ve used. I have several pair, for different uses. I did add new insoles for my road runners, and they are perfect. I left stock insoles for my trail runners, daily wear pair, MTB pair and the hikers. (Yes I have several.)I expected the tread to wear quickly due to the soft compound, but they are holding up better than I thought. The traction is like Velcro, and even holds well (compared to my hiking boots) on wet rocks / logs.There isn’t much for ankle support or protection, so I would not consider these as a replacement fir true hiking boots. But I still use these for all hiking, except in extreme rocky / muddy areas. Great adventure shoes.

I have wide feet, and a large toe box on these shoes make for a perfect fit. I've never had a more comfortable nor durable shoe. These things are lasting me forever! I think they look a bit goofy, but I'm willing to lay down my vanity in favor of such an excellent, well designed piece of footwear exercise fashion.I was wearing a pair of my Altras when I spilled some black wood stain on a corner of the shoe. Like a tablespoons worth covering four square inches. I was bummed, but dabbed at the fresh stain with a paper towel trying to get most of the disaster contained. I let the remaining stain on the shoe dry and, resigned to the accident, demoted this pair to strictly work shoes. I was surprised to see that over just a few days of wearing the shoe the stain came out on its own for the most part, and only a very faded mark remains. Yay!The thing I like the least is that the aggressive lugs tendency to hold mud to the soles.

I was weary about these and pleasantly surprised on how comfortable and tough they turned out to be. I walked 41 miles, 4 days with a 50 pound pack on and my feet felt great. Came back a week later and hiked 50 miles with the same weight and my feet were absolutely fine. No blisters, no hot spots. Awesome. They’re a wider shoe in the toe box and the heal is like sliding on a slipper. My only complaint were the Altra gaiters I bought separately. I went back to my trusted out door reasearch gaiters and I was off and hiking. The Altra gaiters just didn’t cover my shoe or laces enough for my liking and there isn’t a stirrup strap for the bottom of the shoe. Other than that 10/10 recommend and I’ll likely wear these out hiking in the foothills the rest of the summer and fall and lm looking forward to buying another pair for next year.

These are the best hiking shoes I have ever had. The no drop format takes a little getting used to, but I do notice less fatigue now. They're very light, which also helps prevent fatigue.The absolutely best feature is the ultrawide toe box. This is the only shoe that has ever allowed my toes to spread naturally, offering not only more balance, but it's not cramping my little toe, which has led to a completely blister free hiking experience for the first time in my life.

Ottime per stagioni fredde, abbastanza impermeabili all'aqua. Temo che d'estarte saranno un pochino troppo calde.

Scarpa fantastica. Reso perché veste circa 1/2 numero più lungo. Da preferire se avete caviglia e mesopiede grassottelli sennò si balla un po’ troppo (comunque vanno sempre prese almeno 1,5 numeri in più della misura del piede)

Très confortable, particulièrement bonnes pour ceux qui ont des problèmes d'orteils.
