He's Not My Type: Vancouver Agitators Series, Book 4

Sometimes Love is right there in front of you.
Meghan Quinn sure knows how to give you what you want and then add in things you didn’t even know you needed! I went into this book excited to finally find out more about Halsey Holmes who had always been a bit of a quiet enigma in the other guys stories. All we had been told previously was that he was a good guy, good Hockey player and had been a twin who had lost his brother. Since the loss of his twin he hadn’t really been the same. I think anyone who has experienced loss understands there’s the you before and the you after and I appreciated how this was handled so much. I loved how all his friends supported him and loved him so unconditionally.Halsey had been going through the motions of life and playing Hockey, reading, but not doing much else. He wasn’t really living, or feeling, just existing. That all changed when he met Blakely and instantly felt something. She was beautiful, funny and he wanted to ask her out asap. That is until he found out she had a boyfriend and therefore was not available. So instead he crushes from afar and hopes maybe one day he’ll get a chance. That day finally comes when she finds herself single and looking for a temporary housing situation. Never to stay out of one another’s business Halsey’s teammate quickly offers Halsey’s place up for Blakely to stay in. Of course Halsey isn’t going to say no. He is quickly put into a situation of living with his crush, trying not to be awkward around her and trying to dig himself out of the friend zone. This book was fantastic! Halsey and Blakely are a beautiful couple. This has probably become my fav of the whole series. It’s a bit of a slow burn in the beginning, but wow it doesn’t disappoint. We go from zero to 💯 on the spicy level real fast. You get some unashamed, adventurous scenes that are BookTok approved for sure. That being said this book also has some really funny moments throughout and lots of heart. Sooo much heart!!💓Be advised this story does talk about loss and grieving and as someone still grieving a loss myself, I know that can be hard for some. However, I found this book comforting and I liked how those topics were handled. I felt like I received a warm hug reading this and I fell in love wholeheartedly with these characters. Also you get a HEAT so don’t be afraid to give this one a chance. Its fabulous!!Thank you for this book Meghan, it truly helped my soul.

A Fantastic Full Cast Audio!
Story: 4.5 ⭐️sNarration: 5 ⭐️sWhat a wonderful book! Part raucous romantic hockey comedy, part exploration of loss (family and long-term relationship), part found family tour-de-force. Meghan Quinn, threads that needle of hilarity and humanity so deftly, it’s what makes her brand of rom-coms so unique. One minute I would be laughing from Frozen Fella group text shenanigans, and the next tearing up as Halsey struggled with his grief. This book has one of my absolute favorite tropes - found family and Quinn handles it superbly. I was wholly invested in the love story of our two MCs, but the friendship moments in this book were just so beautiful and joyfully that they amplified everything. It was a Spinal Tap this goes to 11 situation in the best way. The interactions made me like the MCs even more, contributing a roundness to their characters that can sometimes get lost in a love at first sight story (which it very much what it was for Halsey). The fact that his and Blakely’s growth as individuals came as much from their friendships as from their love match was awesome. My one complaint is that the ending felt a bit rushed given the depth of Halsey’s traumas (and the piling on of a couple more so close to the close!). Still, the show of love and support from his guys and Blakely mitigated that rushed feeling for me somewhat. Now for the audiobook. It was, in a word, fantastic! This was a full cast audio production and all the performances were top-notch with all narrators perfectly cast. Erin Mallon and Connor Crais were outstanding as the MCs. Both brought a great blend of humor and gravitas to the story and played off each other so well; the chemistry was believable. And the love scenes - holy hotness, Batman! Halsey has so many layers, but Crais’s growly, bossy Halsey was amazing. Honestly, every performer managed to steal a scene at some point. However, Teddy Hamilton’s Posey performance was a particular joy - just so funny and lovably goofy that it made me want his story yesterday! As a whole, this audio just made me wish every found-family troupe story would get a full cast audiobook recording.Overall, the story, setting, and characters Quinn created just make me was to keep coming back and if you love found family and a unique romcom approach, this one is more than worth a listen.I received an ALC copy of the audiobook via the author’s team. All opinions are my own.

My heart!
I should probably sit on this review for a beat, considering I just finished this book, but ahh! It was so good. I really couldn’t put it down. Halsey is such a gentle man and honestly, his journey out of his shell was so beautiful, it gave me all the feels. I love that he was so caring and thoughtful. I loved his and Blakely’s journey. The steam in this book was also real! And the man banter- hilarious, I’ve read a lot of sports romance and the back and forth of this group of guys had me laughing out loud at points. Just a really great read!!

Sweet, steamy, funny and emotional
4.5 starsThis book has me hooked from the beginning, the group chat text messages between the guys was hilarious and it's the first book in a long time that has had me laughing out loud. The guys just had an amazing bond and it was so funny and heartwarming to see how much they cared about each other. So this story has an element of fake relationship, but is more forced proximity. Halsey has lusted after Blakely since he first saw her but she had a boyfriend so he watched from the sidelines. Until she splits up and then the guys all try and help him, and 'try' being the word.Halsey was so sweet, but just wasn't the guy Blakely thought she wanted. However, when he went rogue and ignored the guys advice, she saw the other side to him and it changed everything. This book wasn't just sweet and super steamy, towards the end I was in floods of tears, it really delved into the background of Halsey and how his brothers' death has affected him, his team and his relationships.I really enjoyed reading this story and love that Sherman and Shirley got their HEA!

A beautiful read.
I was in love with the hockey series right from the first book with Pacey's story and this book just adds to it. Loved the character of Holden and the beautiful way this book ended. So happy to read about his happy ending with Blakely. Can't wait for Posey's and OC's story as well :)
