Extra fine is close to fine/medium.
This pen writes well and the extra fine lays down a fairly wet line that takes at least a few seconds to dry. I bought the clear and filled with Hongdian Sky Blue on 100% cotton 32lb paper. It took longer to dry on my vintage looking stationary. I haven't tried other inks.It is a heavy, thick pen so skip if you like light slim pens. I could post the cap but I felt it would jump off easily plus I liked the balance better without it posted. Clip is stiff but feels durable.Metal trim isn't sharp and adds beauty. Piston fill worked well and chamber filled well on second try. Nib is smooth and no hesitations or hard starts right out of the box. There's a little feedback but I've other pens that are much worse. The pen looks and feels substantial while looking good and writing well. Again, it's hefty and large so may be hard for some to hold comfortably. I have a touch of arthritis and though comfortable to handle it will take a little adjustment time since most pens on the market are of the slimmer variety.

Neato Mosquito
A few weeks ago I had zero fountain pens and today I have several and a few more on their way. What a terrific hobby. This pen is incredible. I named it the Mosquito. When I filled it with Pilot iroshizuku yu-yake, which is a really nice sunset orange, it looks red in the barrel of the pen and resembles a mosquito. All the pens parts feel smooth to the touch and appear to be manufactured and assembled to exacting tolerances. Everything fits snug. It does not post and really doesn’t need to, it’s a long pen without posting the cap. The nib is super smooth it writes well and I love looking at it as the ink hits the paper. It dispenses a lot more ink than I expected. In my moleskine notebook there was lots of bleed through and feathering, same with my Amazon basics notebook, however the Paperquest notebook handled the pen and ink like notebooks twice as expensive and with this pen was simply a lot of fun to write in. This pen arrives in a foam lined plastic box that for this pen doesn’t really fit. The pen is bigger than the foam cut out in the box. The filling mechanism is easy and I was able to get a near to capacity fill. I now that I have some exposure to piston fill and vacuum fill, I prefer those filling mechanisms to cartridge and converter fill methods. I did reverse writing and there the nib doesn’t shine but it’s good enough. I love this pen. I will by another version. It is very shiny which doesn’t come across in many photos and video reviews of this pen. Truly neato mosquito.

Another winner from Asvine
The version that I ordered - sliver with a clear insert - looks great and really shows off the ink in this piston filler. The medium nib is also very smooth and put down just the right amount of ink - enough to look great on fountain pen friendly paper but not enough to overwhelm cheaper paper. The cap unscrews with just over one turn which is great if you are writing intermittently and cap and uncap frequently. The pen really doesn't post as the cap would sit squarely on the piston knob. But the pen is long enough to use comfortably without posting. The metal 'skeleton' makes the pen feel very substantial in the hand. The metal section is a bit slick because of the polished bear metal but so far this has not been a problem for me.

Hefty cool writer
Love this pen. Writes well, never a hard starter, smooth too. Looks very cool when the ink sloshes around in the barrel. Note: This pen will not post. Love the heft of the pen. Just the weight of the pen produces a wet line. I purchased the fine nib.

Excellent price and quality
This pen was a great gift! It’s solid, writes smoothly and is an eye catcher! Very, very happy with it, especially writing cards out during the holidays with red ink in it! A beautiful piece on my desk!

An instant fav!!
Asvine continues to up their game. I have the P36 and found it pretty good though it writes on the dry side, sometimes skips a bit. It improved after I used a brass shim between the tines -- they were a might too tight. The P80 on the other hand was smooth and nice flowing right out of the box! It is a large pen (my preference) but barely1-2 mm longer than a few other large pens (Opus 88, JinHao 9019, Asvine 36 for a few) and heavy (54gms) but fine to write with since it doesn't post. I immediately put this in rotation! The looks are sharp, too and the skeleton is not sharp.

Exactly as advertised
Very nice fountain pen. I got the extra fine nib as I tend to press a little to hard and wear them out too quick. Pen has good weight & length to it so the cap not being able to post isn't a real big deal.Probably will order a second one in a different color as I am very happy with it.

My Asvine V169 has a friend…
I bought an Asvine V169 when it first came out. I was impressed with the quality and have since bought six (6) more styles. The Asvine P80 continues this high-quality tradition. It is nice to see Asvine go back to its roots and create another skeleton pen. The skeleton overly is nicely polished and smooth in the hand for long writing sessions. Like its V169 cousin, this pen does not post. At 130 millimeters uncapped, it is plenty long for my big hands. The dual-thread cap comes off in 1 1/4 turns and the clip lines up with the nib. The fit and finish is equal to a pen costing three time as much. The fine nib is buttery smooth with no feedback and lays down a 0.5mm line both horizonal and vertical. The pen comes in box suitable to give as a gift. It includes well-written instructions and wrench that works on all Asvine pens. This pen has me wanting more Asvine pens.(Pictured Front – Asvine P80 / Asvine V169 / Asvine V126)(Pictured Rear – Asvine P30 / Asvine P36 / Asvine P50)
