If you have read the book Disco Bloodbath by the amazing James St James you NEED to see this movie. It follows the book to perfection. Macaulay Culkin and Seth Green are just fab in it and the cameo from Marilyn Manson is hilarious. Full of witty one liners.reccomend this movie to readers of Disco Bloodbath, Fans of Mr Culkin and anyone who likes a great fun witty movie that doesnt take itself too seriously.

Shallow & Superficial kids but...
OK... This is based on a true story, about the NY club culture of "the Club Kids" of thelate 80s to mid 1990. Before Social media & Instagram, these kids were a media sensationin America. They appeared on TV shows, and were the talk of New York. Meanwhile, herein the UK, clubs kids were dressing down, and were raving to rave culture, and these kidswere more like the UK Blitz Kids of early 1980s. I say this to compare the two scenes. The New York club scene at the time, was about being "outrageous" and making a sceneof yourself, and these kids also took a LOT of drugs too.The centre of this world was a young man by the name of Michael Alig. He was a club promoterand media sensation. His parties were the best and the most outrageous in a nightclub scene thatlived in the moment, and this movie is about that scene, and also a horrific murder. Based on thebook Disco Bloodbath by co-club kid James St James, who was there and saw it all unfold. This is a shallow and superficial hedonistic world, but nonetheless a intregening world at that, andhere lies the problem, it is hard to have sympify with these characters, and as we descend into thedepths of hedonistic hell, it is really hard to like any of these people. But that is the point. This is a good film, insomuch, it tells the story of a subculture from the bottom up. The actors dotheir best to play unsympathetic characters in a shallow world, and the narrative and direction iswell done and all a true story too. Worth watching.

Got bored...
Gave up half way through. Although I found the true story interesting, the film was a bit tedious.

Great movie and soundtrack.
Everything you need to explain drugs and the club kids scene in the 80s, plus a true story! The movie also has an awesome soundtrack!

Semi funny
I love Seth green and Macaulay Culkin but it would’ve been better if it had two gay actors portraying the characters as Seth green and Macaulay Culkin’s accents for the role were laughable. They sounded more than british accents rather than Brooklyn accents

I LOVE IT ! Awesome movie here.Party Monster is a 2003 biographical crime drama film that details the rise and fall of infamous New York party promoter Michael Alig. The film stars Macaulay Culkin as the drug-addled "King of the Club Kids".Written and directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, the film is based on Disco Bloodbath, the memoir of James St. James which details his friendship with Alig, that later fell apart as Alig's drug addiction worsened, and ended after he murdered Angel Melendez and went to prison. A 1998 documentary on the murder, also called Party Monster: The Shockumentary, was used for certain elements of the film.Based on the book Disco Bloodbath, by James St. James, the film opens with Michael Alig as a small-town outcast who lived with his mom before moving to New York. Michael learns the New York party scene from James St. James, who teaches him the "rules of fabulousness", which mostly revolve around attracting as much attention to oneself as possible.Despite James' warning, Alig hosts a party at Limelight, a local club which is owned by Peter Gatien, and soon becomes the hottest club in New York, with Alig at the head. Alig is named "King of the Club Kids" and goes on a cross country journey in search of more club kids. Alig and James pick up Angel Melendez, Gitsie, and Brooke. Soon after meeting, Gitsie becomes Alig's new girlfriend. However, after Michael descends further into drug abuse, his life starts to spiral out of control, eventually culminating in his involvement in the murder of Angel. Gitsie and Michael decide to go to rehab and treat it as a "Second Honeymoon", leaving James behind. James then begins to write his "Great American Novel" published as Disco Bloodbath and later as Party Monster. This movie is killer .. No pun.I give it 5 stars.Long live indie flicks.
