I've tried using other SBC (system on a board) solutions as "desktop replacements" and most of the time I end up frustrated by the laggy browsing experience and the struggles trying to play 1080p YouTube videos. However, after using this device for over a week now I can say I'm pretty impressed. Overall, AWOW has done a fantastic job of producing a small, portable, fully functional PC that seems actually capable of serving as a "desktop replacement" solution while somehow maintaining super low power consumption.In comparison to other small form factor PC's like the Raspberry Pi 4, I found this device to have a much smoother browsing experience and was happy to see I could play YouTube videos at 1080p without major hiccups. Frames dropped during YouTube 1080p playback stayed in the low single digits.I'll go ahead and summarize some main points:- The case is plastic but seems to be of high quality and well assembled- Small enough that you can easily throw this in your backpack or pocket- Has good connectivity options (the Realtek Gigabit ethernet and display port were nice surprises)- Easy to expand to plenty of storage using an SD card- Passive cooling (no noisy fans) that keep the device within acceptable thermal ranges- Power button is a nice touch* USING AN SD CARD *As visible in the attached picture, be careful when you insert the SD card. The actual opening in the case is bigger than the SD card slot, meaning you can accidentally push the card into the chassis and potentially lose it forever. Make sure you insert it on the bottom of the opening (you'll feel some resistance as you push it in).* HAVE THE RIGHT EXPECTATIONS *Don't expect to do intense photo editing or gaming on this device. You might be able to run old titles like Half-Life 2 (haven't tested) but in the end this device was designed to support general activities like browsing, using productivity software, and media playback.* POWER USAGE *If you live in an area with unreliable power or want a low power-consuming computer to run off of a solar generator then this is a great solution. You can power this off of any power bank as long as it provides a reliable 5v/2.4a output and you disable Intel Turbo mode via the BIOS, otherwise you might experience instability when the boost clock kicks in (i.e. random shutdowns). However, if you intend to use this in a classical desktop setup, then I recommend just using the included power adapter.* Nerd stuff *- For comparison, the AWOW NY41S Passmark score for the Intel Celeron J4105 CPU hits 2,915 points vs the Raspberry Pi 4 BCM2711 at 851 points (different architecture I know but still interesting)- Works great using Lubuntu!- If you decide to use Linux, do NOT enable swap. This PC has a soldered on eMMC which can get worn down over time if you're not careful. In fact I decided to use the eMMC just for OS operations and put all my media/docs onto an SD card to preserve its longevity.- I initially had issues getting audio working on Linux (only Dummy audio device showing), however I was able to resolve by setting the following:echo "options snd-hda-intel dmic_detect=0" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.confecho "blacklist snd_soc_skl" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf* Closing comments *I've never heard of AWOW before but after using this device, I think I'd be willing to try out more of their products. In the end I think most people will be hard pressed to find a better performing desktop replacement solution within the ultra low-power consumption segment. 10/10.

I bought this mini pc to run videos on a kiosk at a trade show. In the past, we would use a laptop that had to be shoved in the base, and someone would have to be without their computer for the conference. Setup was a breeze. I plugged it into a monitor with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, updated the software, put my videos on the desktop we were ready to go. It is going to make conference prep very easy going forward.

It is absolutely quiet because there is no fan. My only complaint, I wish it had more USB ports. All in all a nice little computer that is very portable.

The media could not be loaded.  I received the package as always Amazon style at light speed.The packaging is well made and protects the computer stick well.Startup is flawless - make sure you have a wired keyboard at hand.The performance is really good. It feels like a big computer. I will use it manly for private work while traveling. I just need a TV in the hotel and have bought a wireless keyboard with it.Customer support is also very quick - I asked for help because of product availability and they got back to me within hours and solved my problem right away. Makes me feel comfortable that I bought a high quality product.

Be sure that you power this unit with a reliable battery or power source. It requires a STRONG power source. If there is any variance in the quality of power provided to the unit, it will restart itself and put a message on the Windows log indicating a restart due to power issue. It is a very reliable unit. It employs a modern CPU chip and so I upgraded the OS to Windows 11 successfully using Windows Update. It is quiet, generates a little heat so I would not place the unit next to anything that could generate extra heat for the unit.

Performance is decent for the price. Portability is great.

The metal case works as perfect heatsink. You can play Skyrim on low details as long as you disable the display sound device and use the jack sound device. The display sound was crashing most of the Elder Scrolls. The UHD 600 is a bit too slow for the most modern games. Kingdom Come 800x600 only gets 5 to 7 fps, but it runs.

The hardware isn't bad, but keep in mind that the software doesn't currently have public recovery files or drivers, so a clean install of the OS or a damaged recovery area cannot be repaired.I contacted the customer center but there is currently no response.2021.11.18 UpdatedRecovery files and drivers are now available for download on the official site.

Power adapter failed after 3 months

Likes, compact and disk I/O is as fast as fast USB flask drives on market, but slower than NVMe usb enclosure drives.Has RJ45 LAN connection.Can run two monitors (like raspberry Pi)Can boot into other OSes.Seems to run faster than Raspberry Pi, but thats is just a 'feel', without rigorous testing.Dislikes, could do with 16GB of ram to reduce obsolescence and allow tinkering with VMs.Really need USB powered hub with it.No WinRE with it.Bigger internal drive needed.No access to PCIe lanes (would be amazing if this was enabled).ConclusionGood paired with portable monitor, as can then use like a touch screen laptop, without all the restrictions that most tablets have with usb sticks, external monitors, CDROM drives etc etc.But you will need a good power bank!.
