Delkin Fat Gecko Camera Mount (Suction)

Brilliant mount for the price. Really easy to setup and get going. Used this on my two vehicles and can confirm it stays on doing the speed limit. Used this with the insta360 X5 and it works great. Lots of adjustment to get the right angles and shots you need. The suction cups hold firm and are easy to install/remove.

No review mentioned that the arm and ball joints are all metal. I was wondering this all the time until I received it. It’s a solid piece of kit. I am using it to hold my camera while in the car for Northern Lights. It’s really good. I cleaned the suckers with a non abrasive sponge and wet them before applying.

I ordered one of these from Amazon, arrived in 2 days in perfect condition. I wanted this device for attachment to the front drivers window, in order to attach my point and shoot Kodak digital camera so that I could video through the windscreen of my car whilst driving. With the extension included in the pack, the camera can easily be positioned facing forward in a way that does not restrict my vision and clears the front pilar. It is quick to attach to the window and stays there for hours without falling off. It is easily removed and can be adjusted so that the camera is in exactly the right position and within easy reach to both see through the camera screen and to start and stop the video. The results are very good, day and night, when I will leave the video on for whole journies of an hour or more. This set-up using a digital camera is better than using an action cam which I have tried with disappointing results. This product sticks well to glass, but not so well to the smooth plastic on the dash, where it fell off after 5 minutes when I first tried it on that surface, not tried it on any other surface, so can't comment. A well made product that deserves 5 stars, price is reasonable too.

Using solely for recording on a Insta360 One X2 with an Invisible Selfie Stick, I can't seem to get the arrangement right so it doesn't pivot left and right after cornering. Other than that, the grip on the suction cups are incredible. I trust it a lot to hold my camera in place. Very secure and sturdy build overall, apart from the point I mentioned initially. It would be a 5 star for me if the pivot was completely locked down!

These mounts are amazing. I use it for track day 'race car' in car footage. The suction of the mount is absolutely brilliant, I have mine attached the back of my bucket seat so the camera is shoulder mounted as such. I've only had it fall off once and this was due to my bad placement, I have since changed where it's places and it's stayed attached 4 months with multiple track days. It takes vibration and harsh G force well keeping the camera exactly where you set it. I use a go pro, if you used a bigger heavier camera I don't think it would be a problem, but I'd probably use a duel suction mount. The weight of the kit is very light but extremely well built and sturdy, it's made from a very hard plastic. I think it looks like a very good quality product. It can fit most applications due to it coming with a short extension piece, I would like to have another extension if I was being picky.

- Pros: Well-built, powerful suction cup, Lots of flexibility when setting the angle for the camera. - Cons: Too much movement when using on a moving source (eg. a car), which causes video footage to be shaky. Unfortunately this only gets three stars from me. Although the build quality is generally very good and the suction cup is powerful, the design is flawed in that even when the suction cup is tightly secured to a surface, there is still a large amount of movement in the arm. This isn't a problem when stationary, but if you're planning to use this on a moving object (such as a car), the camera shakes quite considerably, which impairs the video quality. I used this with a modern DSLR which is not particularly heavy and well below the stated weight limit, but having said that, there would probably be less shake if using the mount with a small action cam (like a GoPro). But really, that defeats the point of this mount which is to get better quality video using a proper camera. All in all a bit of a shame, since apart from the shake issue, the mount is really very good.

I purchased this camera mount for a very specific purpose: to attach a Kodak Playsport camera to a 350cc quad bike! As part of a "Stag Day" I organised for my brother-in-law I had arranged a quad biking activity for the morning of the day. I knew I'd have difficulty finding a static location for filming as the quad biking route was through a forest so I thought it would be more interesting if a camera was mounted on one of the quads - the last quad of seven with camera facing forwards. I'd had the opportunity to look at the quads previously and decided that it would be possible to mount the camera on the fibre glass fairing IF the suction mount was good enough. After some research on Amazon and eBay I went with the Gecko as it seemed to have the most effective suction cup. As a "just in case" measure I also attached a chain to the Gecko which I affixed to the Quad bike bull bar. If the suction cup failed the theory was that I wouldn't lose the camera, the mount and, most importantly, the memory card! I "field tested" the mount on my little Suzuki 4 x 4 and it worked well. Then came the day of the quad biking event... Due to a shoulder injury I couldn't participate in the "quading" myself so I attached the camera to the quad bike driven by a friend. I pressed "record" and hoped for the best! Despite constant vibration from the terrain and engine vibration the mount held firm for the entire event (over an hour). The resulting 35 minute footage (I think it stopped due to file size) proved to be pretty good. A bit wobbly but perfectly watchable. If I were to do something like this again the only change I would make would be to remove the mount extender as I suspect this may have amplified the vibration effect. An excellent piece of kit which will provide me with some interesting options for filming in the future.

This little baby is top shelf and I can only highly recommend it. It beats similar items blindfolded and handcuffed, no problems at all. The double 18.5cm wide suction mounts ensure the unit firmly sticks to whatever you attach it to. The clasp holding the suction mounts is made out of metal, as is the attachment arm. All in all a very rigid feel and you just know that your equipment will stay on the unit and not fall off. The joints are made out of metal too, none of this flimsy plastic ABS stuff that cheaper products offer. This ensures your arms can be angled and tightened so there is no movement at all. The camera shoe is all metal too, so this provides a nice tight grip and lock to your equipment when mounted. I don't think you can over tighten anything on this unit, it really does feel it's straight out of the Hollywood Studios equipment rig. The camera mounting arm can be swiveled around a full 360 degrees allowing any position to be achieved. The camera shoe mount then allows further axis to be adjusted independently. I used this kit fitted to a Mustang in the US whilst shooting footage driving over dirt roads and damaged tarmac on Route 66. The Canon 7D and VHoldr bulletcam equipment stayed firmly attached and there was zero movement on any of the axis caused by slipping grip. Highly recommended. Quality item.
