Belkin Conserve Energy Saving Outlet

I have not used any other Belkin Conserve products so my review is solely based on the Energy Saving Outlet. I purchased this unit for my wife to use with her hair straightener to save the hassle and headache of trying to remember if she turned it off. She leaves the device on the "30 minute" setting and presses the button to turn on the outlet.Prior to having this device we would leave the house and have to turn around because she would forget whether or not she switched off her flat iron. 95% of the time we would find the hair straightener would be turned off after we got back home but she did not remember turning it off (after a while it becomes habit but sometimes you may not remember doing it since it is part of your routine).This little device was cheap and gives us peace of mind if she may think she forgot to turn off the flat iron... the outlet will be powered off after 30 minutes and there will be no fire hazard in the house.I only gave 4/5 stars because the timer functionality should offer more settings besides 30 minutes, 2 hrs, 4 hrs (or whatever the 3 choices are). I know there is a big gap in the time options but I do not really use this device since I showed my wife how it works.I also question the "Energy Saving" functionality of this device. This may save energy for items that draw a ton of power but it does not seem to be very practical for saving energy.

This is a simple product that has one simple job to do; shut off your electronic device after a specific period of time. It has three settings 1/2, 3, and 8 hours. If I had one wish for a change it would be that they change the 1/2 hour to a full hour and maybe add a 5 hour setting. However, that's just being petty as this device does a good job. I use one of them to shut off the charging of my cell phone after three hours to save the battery. Another one shuts off a lamp in my workshop when I forget to shut it off manually (which I tend to do).

We got this as a desk lamp timer for daughter’s room. We have it set to 30 minutes. I was hoping to find something that just turns the light off after 30 minutes but could be left alone. But there is a button on the top you must press to turn the plug on, then turn on the device. So this is not good for an outlet you cannot reach with ease.

I use these for infrared electric heaters set at the low setting of 400 watts. With the heater at my feet, I tap the start button set at 30 minutes for warmth. As we age and become forgetful, this product is a safety MUST! I own three of the switches and all have performed well. Do not hit this with a full 1500 watt load for the negative reviewers.

I buy more of these every now and then because we give one away when people see it at our house and say "oh, that's a great idea". The only thing missing is a way to turn it off before the timer is out without unplugging it. A long duration button press should do that, but instead you have to wrench it out of the outlet and plug it back in (while not pressing the button). I usually just let whatever's plugged in to the outlet keep wasting power for a few minutes or hours instead of doing that since it's pretty hard to unplug.

I use these for night lights / lamps in my children's rooms. We have a fun fish tank light for my son and an elephant lamp for my daughter. They like their lights on to go to sleep, but these devices prevent the lights from staying on all night. I typically use the 30 minute setting, and when "the fishies go to sleep," it's a cue for my little one to go to sleep. Only 4 stars because I wish there were more increments for time choices.

It's an OK product does what it's supposed to do but it just seems like it had more potential. For example, they could have used the button on top as an on/off, not just on. It makes it a bit annoying if you want to use just the timer as the power control. In order to turn this off without the timer ending, you have to unplug it and plug it back in. Other than that it works pretty well and I'm happy with it. I use it to run a room air filter for a few hours after I leave the house.

I have looked in every store at timers now for months. All I wanted was a countdown timer that would turn an appliance off if I left it on. That was the only simple function I wanted and frankly half the timers out there are just too smart for me and many want you to install a switch into an electrical outlet. This timer plugs into the wall and then the appliance plugs into it. Manually press start and then have the side button set to turn off in 30 min, 3 hours, or 6 hours!! Also it is small and aesthetically pleasing. It was not so simple to find simple, but this is the best!!

It handles sufficient Amps and is perfect for Espresso Machines that keep on heating the water when forgetting to power them off.One start less for this: I'm missing a simple reset of the timer; pushing the top button again only makes the LED flush again instead of restarting the timer.

We're pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. It's an odd device with limited practical use, however, we uses it with our coffee grinder that for some reason has a constant power draw.

These things are very useful around the house. I use mine for an electric towel rack, phone charging, and an extra safety measure for an electric blanket (even though it has its own shutoff).Highly recommended.Note: You cannot reset this unit without unplugging it and starting over. The button only starts the timer, and is not an "on/off" switch.

Works as described. I use it for my hair straightener that I always forgot to unplug. Would be better if the power light was brighter as you can only see it in the dark.

Works nice. Now I don't have to worry about overcharging my cell phone etc batteries if I charge at night and knowing the outlet will shut off when it has been programmed to shut off.
