Pure genius
I have vivid memories of watching the Flumps when I was little, and finding it so surreal that I was captivated by it. These days, most TV shows give kids things that they already understand, but when I was four I didn't want to be spoon-fed; every episode of the Flumps contained something that fired my imagination and got me thinking.Mother Flump sings a beautifully sad song about the fact that there are no butterflies on the moon. Posie muses that 'today feels more like an un-day than a day'. Pootle turns into a magnet. It's all a million miles away from the rather predictable kids TV we have now.Yes, the colours are occasionally a bit washed-out, but that just adds to the wonderfully strange atmosphere. I gave this to my three-year-old niece for Christmas, and she's just as fascinated by it as I was. The only problem is that she now wants a cuddly Pootle, which could prove slightly more difficult. In short, buy this for yourself and for your kids - they'll enjoy it every bit as much as you did.

My four year doesn't mention the quality - he just loves it...
He may be a fan of Pixar Cars and everything Disney, but nothing makes my son happier than watching The Flumps. It's all the family characters and simple stories that he enjoys and he identifies with Pootle. He's started to do a great Yorkshire accent. It's cosy. And it's been his comfort blanket in his first few weeks of starting school. He giggles out loud. I didn't see this as a child and watching it for the first time, it doesn't strike me as being dated. And there's lots of fun stuff about all the quirks of the English language.Hope this helps. I only looked up the Flumps after someone said our boss reminded her of Pootle... and I'm glad I did.

The Flumps (Complete)
I loved the Flumps. I love the stories, my (nearly) 3 year old likes them too.The sound quality was good. The images were a little grainy, but not too bad. I guess it's just an age thing, but not off-putting at all.The layout of the selection page was really nicely done (when you choose which episode to watch), really well edited and well thought out.A nice trip down memory lane, and the simple stories are ideal for the little children of today.I'm happy with it.All Good.

That's my Voice you are Listening to.
I have enjoyed listening to The Flumps.. I am the voice of all the characters ; it's my voice too, singing all the songs and narrating the story. I recorded these way back in about 1975; there was only one series, which is a great shame. The story behind the voices.... I tried out various different accents before David Yates, the producer, made a choice of the slightly "Northern" accent. I worked out a voice for each character and away we went! I am pleased this has been brought out on DVD. I hope you will enjoy The Flumps. They are endearing creatures.
