LOVE
I have been wanting one of these for a long time. but couldn't justify paying $15+ for one ya know. saw this one marked down to $12 with an extra 5% off if you signed up for subscribe&save (obvs canceled that after it arrived lol I don't need a whole bunch), so I took a chance and it is wonderful. well made, sturdy, fine mesh that's able to do sand. and yes it does fit perfectly in the top of a 5gal bucket. I am glad I bought it. 12in diameter. I actually have a larger one in a wooden frame, my husband made it for me with some expanded metal he had laying around (he's a blacksmith), he even put handles on the sides. but my goodness it took him like all of June to make it, and he has a smaller version in progress. glad I got this one though bc I'll likely be waiting til next spring for him to get done with the smaller wooden framed one lol

Solid, well built Soil Sieve
This is the second soil sieve that I've purchased from the same seller. My first had a 1/4 wire mesh. My soil ROCKS! I wish is didn't though. I can't dig anywhere in my yard without hitting shale, granite or rocks. The 1/4 sieve did a great job of filtering out the rocks. As we do a lot of gardening, it was tedious to keep buying "so called" topsoil in a bag. I now only have to filter what we had left over from digging holes for plants.I initially had 4, five gallon bucket of yard dirt where I had taken out the larger rocks. Using the 1/4 mesh first got those 4 buckets down to 2. Then using the 1/8 mesh I have 1 1/2 buckets of soil. While these fit nicely on a 5 gallon bucket, I find it quicker, and easier to hold the sieve above the bucket with one hand and use my other hand to roll the dirt over the mesh. Give it an occasional shake as well. It's best to sieve the dirt over a mulch or lawn area as there will be dirt that falls outside of the bucket. It takes me about 15 minutes to filter a 5 gallon bucket.Tip: make sure that the soil you're sifting is dry, other wise it just clumps and sticks to the mesh. Also, use a scoop of some sort (we use an old coffee bottle) to transfer dirt from one bucket to another. You don't want to overfill the sieve. It makes it more difficult, and takes longer. Keep the sieve about 1/3 full and you'll fly!Tip 2: Keep a spare bucket or a trash bag to put the rocks and debris that you've filtered out.Great product. Great seller.

This is just the right size for sifting the sand in my chicken coop. Couple of scoops every morning and my coop stays fresh and clean.
