This seemed like a good idea to keep the dogs and humans too scared to come into the "back forty" area, but we live in a neighborhood and this thing is LOUD. As it should be. False alarms could get neighbors a little up in arms, especially if we are not home to get it turned back off. It's a great system and very economical for country dwellers or people who stay home all the time.

I got this perimeter alarm for a few reasons. First was for my survival kit. Second was for a little extra protection at a campsite we love (the one ranger has been known to “checkin” on the sites when you sleep. The third was for my kids to enjoy when playing jailbreak in the yard. Here is my thoughts:Pros:- Alarm is LOUD!- fun to set up a line and use the magnet to set it.- comes with plenty of lineCons:- easy to lose the magnet once it’s been tripped- can’t get the line very tight or it will simply pull the magnet offThis could be a useful tool for a variety of reasons! My kids like it the best and use it for games in the yard. It’s a cool design, but I wouldn’t put full trust in this to alert me if something is nearby.
