Good knives

We have a bunch of these and other inexpensive knives of all sizes. If you know how to sharpen and hone a knife with a stone and a honing steel, and always use a cutting board, you can get and keep these knives razor sharp. Some come out of the package that way, some need a bit of work. This is not unique to inexpensive knives; we've had $200 handmade Japanese knives that needed honing out of the box, and get dull with use when not maintained. That's the way knives are - all of them. These won't hold an edge as well as a high-quality knife, nor are they perfectly balanced, nor will they last forever. But they're comfortable to use and are a great bargain. Hey, they cost under $20 for three knives plus sheaths! No knife stays sharp forever. Even the very best knives need frequent honing, and, much less frequently, sharpening. I've used expensive Japanese knives at friends' houses that might as well have been reserved for use with butter and soft cheese. Don't bother spending a lot of money on expensive knives until you've learned how to hone and sharpen an inexpensive knife. And when you have, you might decide to skip the high-end stuff unless you need to impress your friends.

The knives were very sharp and the grips were comfortable. The shields were alittle tight in going on but I suppose in time will become easier to slide on. I also would have liked the shields to be solid rather than having the openings on them for more protection. Overall, the knives were a good buy!

These are great knives! This is my second set just because I wanted two sets of the same! I love that they have covers!

Edges may be less after months of frequent household use. I hand wash, dry, more during citrus cuts. I wish i had a full set like this all my life. I didn't know what a quality knife was.
