I fell in love with these palettes while taking a watercolor class. They are great for learning color theory and color mixing with a limited palette. We used the smaller round areas for paint straight from the tube, and then mixed colors in the larger areas. I also like that the wells are large enough to allow you to easily saturate the brush with paint.These are great for studio work, but they are not travel palettes. For one thing they are large and take up a lot of space on your desk or table. Also, the palette does have a lid and cannot be closed. You can leave your watercolor paint in the open palette and reactivate it later. The longer you leave it the more likely the paint will stain the plastic. Unless you're using a heavily staining pigment, a Magic Eraser should be able to clean it up satisfactorily.

These are great paint trays. It’s perfect for watercoloring and gouache. I really enjoy the size of the trays (large with plenty of room without having to find another tray while working), and the cost is low. An excellent buy.
