Adventurous Proposal
Omg! I am such a hopeless romantic, and this fits exactly that. The intensity in this book and love. Not to mention the sexy scenes 😜.

Fun Christmas romance
I love the idea of this fun romance. After both Flo and Hugh have been stood up yet again, they start talking to each other in the bar. They get along so well that Hugh proposes later that night. BUT, even more shocking is that he wants to get married Christmas day. That's only 25 days! Amazingly, Flo accepted. They have a lot to do in a short time if they want to pull off this wedding. Lucky for them, they have great friends. Even though everyone thought this couple were off their rockers, they were supportive and were amazing helpers. They really pulled through, making the lack of money and time, minor problems. It was hard enough trying to get everything done on time, but add a horrible mother of the groom and a witch of an ex and you have a mess on your hands. This was a humorous romance that took place at Christmas but could be read at any time. The fact that they both wanted to get married for various reasons out-weighed the lack of connection between them. I didn't get the feeling that they were a really good match but they definitely were attracted to each other. That was the reason I gave it 3.5 stars. That and the swearing. I don't mind swearing but this couple couldn't say a sentence without swearing. Especially Flo. There was way too much for no reason.

not realistic or funny
I understand Adventurous Proposal is supposed to be light hearted and fun, but I was deeply annoyed with the female character and unrealistic situations. Flo seemed incredibly sensitive and insecure. She doubted Hugh every time someone said something about him. And for him to be so dreamy, he (and her for that matter) uses a lot of filthy language and talks harshly to her. It's almost like they have been in a relationship for a long time so you forgive bad behavior from a spouse, vs just having met them and putting your best foot forward to get them to marry you on a whim. Also he is a real estate developer with a rich family; however he barely has any money to put into their wedding (she had more than him and she doesn't work consistently). Come on dude, where your money at. Yet book refers to her possibly wanting him for his money. And also, not much of this book was funny. I had no laugh out loud moments. At one point (slight spoiler) Flo gets mistaken for a lady taking sexy photos and she goes along with it then says it was a mistake. Not funny at all, just plain dumb and unrealistic. As for sex, I'd say forced and unsanitary. Don't have sex, without a condom, in a dress you haven't paid for. I'm glad this was a quick read. I was so happy to be done after 3 days.

Neat concept
A neat concept. And it was nice to watch then relationship build. I enjoyed reading it. However, there were a couple of times I didn’t much care for her. But it all worked out in the end.

A Feel good RomCom that will leave you with a big, satisfied smile
Rating 4.5 starsThis is the first book I have read by this author and after enjoying it so much, I will be going through her back catalogue.Adventurous Proposal is a Christmas themed RomCom, It centres around Flo and Hugh and its very British (there's something to be said about a good, British RomCom).I really enjoyed this book, It's a bit nuts but has that feel good factor about it that will leave you with a satisfied smile when you're finished. After reading so many angsty, drama filled stories lately, Laura's humorous writing was a breath of fresh air. The characters were very down to earth and I really enjoyed the authors writing style.Had this book been a teeny tiny bit longer it would have been a solid 5 stars for me.I would highly recommend this book for anyone who likes a good, well written RomCom

Adorable and short christmas story
I really liked this book. I love that even though it was a whirlwind romance, it included a lot of the usual ups and downs of a relationship. It feels like all of those are condensed in a this really well done book. The book did have the cliches of a romance book. But i still think it was executed really well. The minor characters are great too with their distinct personalities. I love that they really made the book better.I definitely liked and enjoyed this book. And it does feel so festive! I did wish they said Merry Christmas on their wedding day. LOL!

A marriage proposal on the first date—what’s not to love?
Florence starts where most romances end up: a marriage proposal from Hugh, a gorgeous guy who is smart, charming, and kind. So is a Christmas wedding really in store? What could possibly go wrong? An amusing twist on the conventional progress of the “dream come true” match.

As promised - Laugh out loud.
I am pretty sure the 1 star people have no sense of the ridiculous. Such a fun read. Such a twist on the classic rich boy / poor girl story. She isn't all the poor though. It is written set in England, so get used to knickers instead of panties, etc. But, have fun as 2 strangers get to know each other in the 25 days from hello to wed.

but I was looking through the books on there for a short easy read that I could get through in a couple ...
I don't even remembering downloading this for the kindle, but I was looking through the books on there for a short easy read that I could get through in a couple of hours and that wouldn't take too much concentration. After reading the blurb for this, I almost deleted it without reading it as it is very unrealistic and far fetched. However, I had previously read The Debt and the Doormat by the same author which I loved, so I thought I'd give this one a go. At worst, I've wasted couple of hours reading it!Laura has this way of writing great characters with funny lines that just makes you want to keep reading! Ok so the premise is far fetched and because the wedding is planned in a month, everything moves at a very fast pace and emotions are exaggerated somewhat. But that doesn't stop this being a great short read that will only take a couple of hours to read. I have knocked a star off just because I would have liked the story to have been longer and the other characters to have been developed more, but otherwise I really enjoyed it. I will be reading more by Laura in the future.

Sigh
Wow! I was going to read this on holiday, but I could not wait. Laura Barnard's books get better and better. It is so tempting to put plot spoilers in a review- but instead there is plenty of the ingredients you would expect to read in a book of this genre with added 'but then this happened oooh that happened!' And of course the trade mark, relatable humour. I must admit, I was smirking to myself about those wedding preparations! As Laura puts it, when the main character, Flo is worried if her boyfriend is 'going to be one of those who leaves his shaving stubble in the sink'... I am glad to be on that side rather than the bridezilla side. I will finish with a quote from the book that I was particularly drawn to 'That's one of the things I'm learning to love about you. You don't give a * about what people think. You care about the real things. And that's exactly what our marriage will be. Real' ... Sigh...

5 stars
I just love Laura Barnard's style of writing, the witty banter and funny stories, all mixed with love and romance. I love the way the characters feel like they could be your mates. The idea behind Adventurous proposal was just so ridiculous, it was funny. I read this book in a day and stayed up far later than I should have reading it but don't regret that one bit.

I am going to be honest Chick Lit romances are really not for me but it's that time of year again when I just want to curl up with something fun and festive and Adventurous Proposal ticked all of the boxes for me.It's a festive whirlwind romance that is a little bit cute and a little bit over the top but isn't that what this time of year is all about?Laura Barnard's Adventurous Proposal is exactly what I needed! It was a short, it was funny and it was sexy filled with lots of festive spirit that is sure to leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. So if you too are looking for a festive read this winter that is sure to wrap you up warm with lots of festive romance and a whole lot of lot of love, this is for you.

Sweet festive read you will love
Have you ever read something so sweet it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Well this is how Adventurous Proposal made me feel today. It totally wraps you up in a warm fluffy blanket and makes you want to watch old christmas movies.I absolutely loved this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to fall in love with the perfect leading lady and gentleman.Flo Gray and Hugh Humphrey were made for each other. He's her soulmate who just happened to get stood up on the same night as she did. He's a bit impulsive but it totally works and if being impulsive gets you stair aerobics and changing room frolics then sign me up.Hugh and Flo are from different backgrounds but they just work so well together.Even when people try to throw spanners in the works on regular occasions they manage to pull together.I just adored this book and really wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars as it deserves so much more.I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
